6 years post surgery, stuck, get band "loosened"?
This sounds just like me after 3 years of surgery. I feel that the healthy food I struggle to eat, hardly ever eat while fruit like I used to. Instead turn to sliders and eat ice cream, milk shake and chocolate. I think I am going to have an unfollow so that I can tolerate these foods again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sugar addiction
I feel so frustrated with myself, and disappointed. I have let sugar creep back into my life and it feels worse than ever. If it's not chocolate I crave its mints or any other sweets. It is jeopardising my success and my weight has slowly crept up over the past few months. It started when I became very stressed and just couldn't eat, the only thing I enjoyed was chocolate and sucking sweets. It's been the slippery slope! I think I will need to cut them out of my life. Anyone else experienced this ? I feel I need support ????

Why is my band SO inconsistent?
I feel the same. Everything can feel ok, then I can become stressed and I can hardly eat. I needed fluid out of my band recently because of severe stress reaction. Each day can be so different, but what I am not aware of sometimes is reverting to slider foods, so I need to be more self aware. One thing I do realise is its all a learning journey

Headache during and after eating
I have noticed that I have recently started having headaches when I am eating and afterwards. Has anyone else experienced this??

EASY WAY OUT, MY @$$
So true, all of these comments. The trouble is that some people are just pure ignorant! I was trying to explain to someone the other day about how the band works, and he said to me "well it's simple really you just need to eat the right food and much smaller portions just 3 times a day, I can do that!" I could have literally kicked him where it hurt" but I retorted " well you are obviously a rare breed, because there are very few people who can do that, and I for one needed something to help me". Pure ignorance!!!!!!

Feel weird....
You ate too quickly and didn't allow the food to go through your band because of this. Also you felt stressed which can tighten the band. You may have experienced some sliming, which is a saliva build up in your mouth This can happen if you eat too quickly or don't chew enough. Relax and it should go away. Your stomach will be still be swollen so early on so look after yourself and take care. You should be fine ❤️

So helpful, thank you
I have been struggling recently and was feeling down about my weight loss. But I came on this forum and it has helped me get back on track. There is always someone on here who is experiencing something similar to you, so you never feel on your own. My problem was I wasn't using my lap band tool properly and was eating around it. It had been a gradual thing and I realised I was eating slider foods I am back on track now without causing too much damage! Thank you so much to the wonderful people on here who are willing to share. ❤️????????????

Is there a Cure for Stubborness and Bad Habits?
I have found these comments so useful. I too eat too quickly sometimes and don't chew properly and have got stuck which makes me feel like I am dying!! I am at a place now where I am being tempted by so many things and feel guilty, I am starting to get those dieting feelings back which scare me a little. I think I may be ready for a fill, as I think about food all the time again. This is certainly a journey, but getting the support on here really helps

Anyone from manchester?
Hi I also has my surgery at Dolan Park last August 2013 I live in Shrewsbury which is about 60 miles from Manchester. I would be interested in a support group. I have lost 4 and a half stone and feel great. Best thing I have ever done

Interested in mentoring
Hi Mona I would love a mentor. It is so motivating to talk to people who have been successful, and who know what it's like to have similar experiences. I had my surgery in August and feel it's been the best decision I have made. I feel I am on a journey, and their will be some downs, but up to now they are mostly ups. I feel so much fitter and healthier, and for the first time in my life don't feel controlled by food. I would love to hear about your experiences. Sally x

Help! Pain is horrible
Yes I agree, you need to get to hospital, I have never experienced problems like these. Good Luck and hope you feel better soon x

New to this....
I can remember feeling like this. You probably need another fill. I have recently had my third and feel so satisfied and rarely hungry. You will get there, remember its a marathon not a sprint! The lap band is a wonderful tool, you'll see. X

Some slight pain in middle of chest which comes and goes since my third band fill 6 days ago
Thanks so much everyone. I realised that I had got into some bad habits before the fill, i.e. Eating too larger pieces, not chewing enough, eating too fast! I have had to re educate myself, and feel so much better now. Thank you so much for your support, it means so much, there is nothing like getting advice from people who have experienced what you are. Some slight pain in middle of chest which comes and goes since my third band fill 6 days ago
Haven't felt A1 since my fill on Saturday. Had an episode of sliming on Monday and was sick with it (just saliva). It was all my fault because I obviously hadn't chewed properly ! I never want to experience that again! I can eat much less now, feel totally different. But I have experienced this mild pain in middle of my chest today, wondered if it might be hunger? Has anyone else experienced this? I am needing some reassurance

I Traded Fat For Old!
How you feel inside is the most important and not carrying around unhealthy fat! Getting yourself some new makeup and a new hairdo should hopefully give you a lift.

What Does It Feel Like?
I can remember thinking before my op, I wonder what it feels like? and feeling a bit worried about something placed inside me. However, its really odd but you forget you even have a band sometimes, just not aware of it being there at all ! I can only feel my port when I feel for it, but that may change when I get near to my goal weight, but it doesn't hurt. Believe me when I say it is the best thing I have ever done and I would definitely go through it again. Any discomfort you feel for the first few weeks when you start to lose weight is worth it. Good luck on your journey

Spinning Class - Eeekkk
I have just booked myself onto a spinning class on Wednesday! Feeling nervous, but reassured by the man who is taking the class. He has lost over 3 stone and promised me I could take it at my own pace. I would never thought 4 months ago that I would have done this in a million years. Feeling excited

Feeling Like A Failure...
I think that everyone is different, and I find that my band can feel different at different times. For instance tighter in a morning or when i feel stressed. I have days when I feel I could just keep on eating, and days when I am content on a small amount. I saw my dietician today and had another little fill as my weight is coming off a little slower than before. But I am so pleased with my weight loss and feel that I am in a marathon, not a sprint! my dietician reminded me that I am drinking more latte's than before, and even little things like that can impact on your weight loss. So have a think about what your are actually putting in your mouth and pick wise foods that are filling, thats the advice I have taken today. I feel the band is a wonderful tool, we just need to learn to use it correctly. Good Luck and keep positive

No more lap bands in my area?
This is all very interesting. I was offered Band, Sleeve and Bypass, but made the decision to have a less invasive band. I did not qualify for surgery and had to pay for it myself. However I have had two friends of mine who do qualify for free surgery, they want the band but have been very encouraged to go for a sleeve or bypass and not the band. I think it may all be about the fact that the band needs more tweaking and is indeed more hassle.
