Help! Pain is horrible

I got banded on Dec 5 and up til the 17th i was golden. No problems at all. My husband took is all to new york and I started on mushies. Ate slow, or thought i did. Walked everyday, climbed stairs and WOW!! Im in much more pain than right out of surgery.

My inscision where the port is, is leaking clearish bloody fluid. I have a lump between my breast bone which is killing me ( my PA said that would happen when i started eating) so im back to liquids, and my entire torso is sore like never ever before. I need my husbands help to get up from bed or from a chair.

Im hoping to see my surgeon tomorrow morning. But just wondering if ANY OF YOU had this problem. Please help!!

If I was you I would go to the emergency... The lump sounds odd to me and I don't ever remember leaking any clear fluid. Someone else might say different.

  • I'm a nurse and it doesn't sound right to me. When you mash around the lump does more fluid come out? If so, and it was me, I'd keep mashing til it stopped coming out. I never got a lump when I sta

  • Yes I agree, you need to get to hospital, I have never experienced problems like these. Good Luck and hope you feel better soon x

I'm a nurse and it doesn't sound right to me. When you mash around the lump does more fluid come out? If so, and it was me, I'd keep mashing til it stopped coming out. I never got a lump when I started eating and it doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks everyone. Lump is near my sternum and the liquid leaking is from my port area. Right now im feeling better. No pain just soreness. Have had a heating pad on all day. Its been tolerable, but going straight in to see my surgeon tomorrow. Thank you again for your comments.

If your not sure call your surgeon and have them take a look or if you can't get ahold of your surgeon then go to the E.R immediataley also You are still healing why would you want to exert yourself it takes at least a month to fully recover I know some of us it only takes a few days to a week to feel good but not healed from surgery just to feel good , so you probally stained yourself to much after so little time , please go call your surgeon so they can see or go immediately to E. R. don't wait till it gets worse, and e more careful.

this is not normal. do you have a fever? your surgeon s/b seeing you right away. don't let the receptionist put you off. she will because it's a monday. tell her you want to speak to the nurse right away, don't play it down. sometimes it's hard to get past those front ppl. good luck please have this checked. it maybe nothing but you need to be sure. if it's an infection you need medication quickly.

Let us know what happens and what they say , it will be helpful to other banders or to the ones who are thinking about being banded and you can also post it on the band complication site , so please let us know what happens , thankyou.
