So confused!!!! I cant seem to get the fill right

Recommended Posts

Recently got a fill and now at 5.7 cc of 10 cc band.

I can't get solids down but before I start getting the "you are losing weight the wrong way" is it possible that it needs time for swelling to go down.... Or something else that is contributing?

It has been 2 weeks and some days are much better than others --- just want hear about experiences and please no judgement as I am just trying to learn what the green zone is.

Two weeks is wayyyyy too long. Usually by the 4th day you should be able to eat solids. You should probably get some taken out.... You'll still lose weight, don't worry. Your overall health is more important. I'd be going BANANAS if I was on only liquids again. Call them TODAY!!!

i dont have fills but from what i have heard/read, not eating or being able to for 2 weeks is way past is it swelling.....i think you need to get to your dr today and let them know and advise you.....could be just them taking a smidge out could offer max relief..

no judgement, only caring

I've only had one fill so far, I have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I'm curious as to how much fill you received this time? How much fill did you have prior to this last fill? My doctor is aggressive with fills and I get my next one mid November, so I'm curious if your WLS is aggressive too. I'm hoping to avoid this same sort of issue in the future. Thanks and best wishes :)

I have swelling anywhere up to 3 to 3 and a half weeks after a fill. Everyone is different. You may have a sensitive stomach but call your doctor.

Too aggressive & not aggressive enough I guess depends on how much WE allow. (Mostly the too aggressive because if the doctor is conservative, I doubt you can sway him)

My last fill I could not get anything down for at least 2 weeks.....first few days I even felt Water restriction.....slowly graduated from liquids to heavier liquid type foods to mushies, etc.....

For me, I'm glad I stuck it out...I did however have to re- adjust my foods and eating habits to co- exist with the band....as I had to do with every fill and new level of restriction.

That was 2 - 1/2 years ago....everything has been peachy ever since with no additional fills since....but that last one was doozy, but definitely did the trick......and well worth it for...I cannot be happier the way things all turned out.

I did call my Dr. Within that 2 weeks and he reminded me that this is what I had asked for....getting to the Green ASAP....and said to continue the eating plan I was on.....but then my Dr knows me, and knows I was aggressive with all this....

People are always saying they eat too much, are always hungry, and NEED a fill....I always say "Be careful what you ask for"

B52, I'm glad your doctor, within his expertise, allowed you to have a say in how fast you reached the green. Maybe on my next visit I'll ask for an extra .5, as I did before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
