Constipation

Recommended Posts

Am I ever going to have a normal bowel movement again? If I'm really lucky, I'll have a marble or two pass, but I haven't had any regularity at all. It's getting pretty uncomfortable! :)

I'm on mushies...seems like something should be giving somewhere!!

I started having a normal bm on this past Sunday. I was going to take a suppository, but I guess I don't need too.

I think it helped me drinking a little more Water and I had some split pea Soup and the Protein shakes might have helped too.

It should improve, but probably will not seem the same as pre op simpy because you wll be eating less. I find that because my food intake is low, my fibre levels could be better- I add benefbre to my drinks to boost and drink a minimum of 64 oz per day ( often quite a bit more than this). Don't usually have a problem, on odd occasions I will use a mild laxatve

I've been adding the benefiber too. Also, if I don't "go" for a couple days...I drink this tea I got when I was on LA weightloss. It's called "Nature's Reply" I need to check the ingredients because I'm sure there is something similar in health food stores. It really helps.

I haven't had a good one since surgery, well I was never regular before. I drink about a gallon of Water a day nothing seems to help. Occasionally I use a suppository. I guess what goes in must come out..sooner or later.

I believe it was Jack that coined the phrase "Holy shredded wheat". I haven't started eating it yet, as i JUST got the go ahead to move to solid food again, but I will be having a bite or 3 of that every day to keep things moving. *knocks* Jack, are you there???

There is a really good medication called Ametiza for constiation. We have used it on a number of band patients and they have done well.

LOL...You can always count on me to ask the tacky questions :(

Thanks Dr. C and all for your input. I did get Dulcolax, and took ONE, thank goodness, because that did the trick. I'd still like to take these chewable fiber pills daily because I'll be the first to admit I'm not very good about fresh fruits and veggies. I've decided to drop one in a glass of Water tonight to see how it reacts and if it doesn't puff up on me, I'll start taking them tomorrow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
