I am on my pre-op diet, since 2 days and I m already feeling deprived. Does this appetite attack continue even after surgery? Because technically the grehlin part of the stomach will be functional even after the surgery. What are ur experiences? How do u deal with such situation?Scheduled for plication on 14 jun.

What Pre- op plan are you on and for how long? After the surgery (I hear) you will be full easily but will be hungry again every 2-3 hours. I plan on surgery early fall.

I am a vegetarian and am on a general Soup diet. They said pre-op diet wasn't mandatory in my case(dunno why). I m just being careful. My favourite soup is a mix veg(bottle gourd, Tomato, spinach, cabbage); just give it a whistle in a pressure cooker and grind everything in mixer (no straining), and add a little black pepper pwd and some KCl( a type of salt we call 'sendha namak' which flushes out unhealthy toxins from our tissues and helps detoxing the liver). Occasionally, I take some cucumber or bottle gourd juice, lemon-honey Water and green tea and cooked pulses.

I had plication May 29. I'm sure I probably still have swelling, but I'm not very hungry. I get full after a small amount and I'm not hungry again for at least 3 hours or more.

I'm 2 weeks post op banded plication. So, I'm still new and healing. I decided to do the procedure because the early research shows promising results, but of course the procedure is still new. I'm hopeful to have early weight loss from the plication and then use the band to supplement when/if weight loss slows down. Started out highest last month at BMI 36 and now I'm BMI 33. I'm on soft foods for another 2 weeks (yogurt, tuna salad, cottage cheese, Soup, etc). I go back to the doctor at the end of the month. I'm feeling good and just trying not to weigh myself too much!

I am on the pre-op diet my doctor has prescribed and it has been tough at times but this is a long term commitment and I am ready. I can do anything for two weeks..:) I am 8 days in and I have lost 11.5 pounds. I started out drinking 4 Protein Shakes a day and then went down to three and added a V-8 or chicken broth. I eat popcicles (sugar free) and I cut my Protein with soy milk, sugar free carmel pudding, banana, pineapple, etc. I try not to put too much fruit in so I can keep my carbs around 70. I am logging my food on myfitnesspal. I love the website and it is so easy to use to keep track of carbs calories Proteins etc..... I plan on using it after surgery as well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
