Happy 3Rd Month Anniversary To Me

Recommended Posts

:D:) Hi guys...today May 15th makes exactly 3mos since my gastric plication with Dr. Ortiz. I remember late February thinking i would never see this day.

I weigh 144lbs, size 4-6 and a small in most clothes. Today i am wearing a size small dress from Guess by Marciano. Everyday i get a ridiculous amount of compliments and most of the time 'OMG i didn't event recognize you, you are soo skinny' i guess its what i always wanted to hear but sometimes it gets embarrassing the dramatization people make. Makes you think my goodness was i really that heavy? i guess the answer is yes.

I donated and passed down 4 large suitcases and garbage bags of clothing a few weeks ago. My closet feels soo bare. Even as i look back at my posts on this forum i realize how happy i was to be shopping at Zara a size 8 and they don't event fit anymore...now that is when i get ecstatic.

i am losing far slower than in the beginning but still losing and gainig muscle, my quads have that sexy muscle peering out, i love wearing shorts and summer plans don't seem that unrealistic or deflating anymore.

I have lost to date a total of 44lbs, i have ten more to go until 134 and happy. Hard to believe....thrilled to have achieved.

With all my love and on our way to....

134andHappy

Wow!!! great job 134 and happy. You give us all incentive to hope for the same!! It is so nice to hear that there are people out there who have been successful! I had my plication April 17 and have almost 30 pounds off....and I cant wait to do some closet cleaning too!! I hope I can do as well as you! Are you going back to Dr. Ortiz for your 6mo - 1 year check up?? I am planning on it because I want to have him check my restriction etc...

Thanks Sue. Yes heading back in 3 mos for my check up...I don't trust bariatric dr's that have less experience with this surgery...restriction feels where I would expect it to be. I eat half a ham and cheese wrap from whole foods and I feel extremely full. Still can't get more than 3 -4 max sushi rolls in.

Same here, I take just 3 or 4 bites of something, and I have to stop! (Isn't it great?) But I really miss drinking with my meal...it is sooo hard! I literally cannot have any glasses of Water etc. in front of my plate, or I will (not thinking) out of habbit grab the water and drink....but that being said, you just need to do it once or twice, and you will not do it again! your stomach hurts sooo bad!!

Yes....ughh drinking and eating. How long do you usually wait before you drink? My first incident happened this Sunday. I went to have an early dinner I thought I waited long enough before I drank something and I chugged a glass of Water b/c I was so thirsty and wow......I felt like I could hardly breathe and it was very painful. Never happened in 3mos but I promise won't happen again, also very surprised at how little we eat and how it's enough to make us energetic and sustains me without much thought. Quite the contrast from pre-op life. nice to be on this forum and share experiences....so few people understand or know what I go through

absolutely...we need support and these forums are sooo helpful. I usually wait approx 25-30 minutes...i just cant make myself wait an hour...and ice cubes just dont do the job...so far so good. You really have to concetrate on not chugging....especially if you were a (water) drinker prior to plication! I still have issues with stamina, but I played 18 holes of golf saturday and did just fine ...to my suprise!

Great job guys. I'm 2 months 2 days out today and down 37#'s, half way there. Today was the 1st time a random person (that doesn't know I'm dieting) made a comment on my weight loss. Which is cool! I go by the rule as far as drinking nothing 20 minutes before and 1 hour after eating. So far so good my only issues was I ate rice accidentally, just a bite and that was a big NO No and oranges are too harsh for me which is a bummer. Other than that all is good with me. :)

Went to Dr.Ortiz March 14th.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
