2 Days Out & Lots Of Throwing Up?, Need Reassurance!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am writing for my loved one who came home from Mexico today. She has been throwing up anything she tries to drink. She cannot keep pain meds down or other medications. It would be very helpful to hear from others who had a rough couple of days. There are so many stories from people who had no throwing up that it would be very helpful to hear some none easy stories. She is someone who has always thrown up easily but even sips of Water are still coming up. Did anyone else out there have a similar experience? How long until you kept liquids down? We are wondering if the flight out the day after surgery might be the culprit too though she was like this last night at the hotel as well. Any shares would be appreciated as mentally they help for her not to feel freaked out.

Just trying to push through.

Thank you!

I haven't had the procedure yet, but have been studying these boards for a while now. I have seen other reports of vomiting, even up to almost a week out. But just to be safe better call your doc.

Get her some gatoraide and have her sip only 1 ounce every hour. Sip very slow and very little at a time and make it last for one hour!

Yup.. and unfortunately it (may) last a lot longer than two days. In my case, it was close to two months before I could stop carying my um...vessle (sc) around the house with me .But.. everyone is different. The timeline for introducing different foods just worked slower for me. But now, I can definitely feel when I've eaten a bit too much but not to the point of tossing the 'too much' up.. Thank GOD that's over.

I had this the first week or so after surgery. My physician put some type of patch behind my ear afterwards that was to be absorbed through the skin for up to three days after the surgery. I've long since lost that box, so I'm not sure what that was called. It didn't help that it fell off and refused to stick soon after I got home.

He also gave me a prescription for ondansetron, an anti-nausea medicine that really seemed to help when I took it as prescribed.

Another thing that he prescribed for me was a battery powered wrist Bracelet that seemed to help me. I went home from the surgery center with that. I'm pretty sure i recently saw a similar device in the local CVS in the motion sickness department. My completely unqualified medical theory is that the slight shock that you get at the wrist every few seconds helps distract you from the feelings of nausea as your stomach readjusts to it's new shape.

The first week for me was rough with the nausea. Hopefully your loved one has gotten through that by now or is getting better.

Take care.

It was probably a Scopalamine patch

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
