Tightness in AM only?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I just got a fill Friday and not been so great. No Pbing, but just a generaly tightness. And then I noticed it went away a bit ago. I called Dr and they said some people have more restriction in the a.m. and they don't know why. I have been contemplating an unfill of some, but if it will be tight just in the morning I can deal with it. Anyone else have this or is it just me?

I'm extremely tight in the am and have good restriction in the pm. It's rather annoying at times to only be able to get a Protein Shake down, but if I had some of my fill taken out I'd be able to get way too much down at night. So I just deal with it. Right now I'm struggling to get down a shake because I had a few nibbles of cheese while I was making my daughter a sandwich. Frustrating!

I'd rather be tighter in the morning since how often do you go out or eat socially for Breakfast?

I tend to be a bit tight first thing, but only to the point of having to eat carefully, not sticking to liquids.

But I can get much tighter in the evenings and it can make eating out not impossible, but I have to choose carefully sometimes or I know disaster will strike. Lucky for me, carefully really means anything softish or chewable like Pasta or a salad, available pretty much everywhere.

I get up for work at 4 am, and am at work by 7 am. So not being able to eat is hard then. But I am thinking I really am just too tight. I have NO desire what so ever to eat, drink anything. I can't even finnish a bottle of Water all day... not good! :) I am going in the morning!

Thanks to all of you for posting! I went in today and got .25ccs taken back out. I had lost 7 pound since Friday's fill! My brain had actually gotten to the point that I couldn't even shift my car! Dr told me it was my body's way of telling me that I was in trouble!

I'm tight until around 12:30 - 1. I can do liquids, but solid food is pretty much out except for tiny, tiny bits. After that time, it's like I'm not even banded.

I am beginning to believe that I also am tight in the morning and less so as the day goes on, but does anyone actually have any physical rationale for the phenomenon? The band and the amount of fill doesn't change and your stomach doesn't know what time of day it is.....so why do I have trouble at lunch (PB -yuk) but ok at dinner. Have had one fill so far.....Any ideas?

I am definately tighter in the am. My understanding is that as I sleep and my body relaxes the band tightens due to skinkage of the tummy ( & not eating while sleeping). My Dr recommended drinking fluilds in the am to "loosen" up and that helps a lot. I'd rather be too tight then not tight enough.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
