OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Recommended Posts

I have 6 sites. The only one that has bothered me at all is the larger one over my liver area. The area all around there was tender for quite a while. I saw my pcp Monday he said all looks good...and gastroenterologist today...also said good. See surgeon for first time on nov. 6th

Wondering if any post ops have any pain in they're main incision area.. I'm 2 weeks out' date=' and last night was the first time I've had any real pain.. Still on pain meds at night, but it still bothers me.. weird.. Hoping it goes away soon..[/quote']

Still on pain meds at night, no pain meds at all during the day. Occasionally, I get a twinge on the left side when I get up from sitting but it passes pretty quickly.

Lynn hope the stool issue has resolved. I didnt have any bloody ones just very watery. Still have not had a formed/solid one but then I am on week 2 of liquids. It is strange how different the docs work. Some ppl on here are have soft foods @ day 3. I will be on liquids for 6 weeks! Not complaining though. Have lost a nice chunk of weight though. How are you feeling?

Most of my twinges were at the left side incision and where my drain was (right side) I felt good enough to stop the liquid Lortab at day 6. Switched to liquid childrens Tylenol and have only taken 2 doses of that. It was surprising that once most of the gas was gone, most of the pain was gone. Unless you are a dumbass like me who tried to climb into a truck without any help. (Not a good idea-I was in tears). Today been feeling pretty dang good! More energy. Better mood. Not hungry but could go for chocolate anything like no one 's business!!!

J you must have a high pain tolerance if it took 2 weeks for to you to have weird pain. Good God. I was worried that I was going to run out of the Lortab on my 2nd day home. It is so much better now though and I still have some Lortab left.. I have found out that I can't sneeze just yet. Sneezed the other day and it was like when I tried to get in my truck. A sneeze!!!! Felt like hot coals going through me. Does your incision sites get hot? Mine have but no infection. Doc said it was normal. Just wondering though ...

I sneezed today 4 different times. I thought my incisions were gonna split. I did survive but Oh My God I do not want to sneeze again.

That's why I'm slightly worried.. I do have a high pain tolerance... We'll have to see what happens.. Sneezes and hiccups hurt pretty bad too... lol...

J hopefully it is healing pain and nothing else. You know if farting hurt as much as sneezing, hiccupping or burping does-we would all be in SO much trouble!!!! Keep us posted on you pain. Keeping my fingers crossed here for ya.

I am 6 weeks post op and I am having problems with my appetite & food. I think that I want a certain food but when I do get it I realize that I don't want it. I am currently working on getting my Protein in. Having trouble eating 6 small meals a day. Can barely eat 2 oz during meal time. Any suggestions.

Hi Unique,

Most of us in this thread are, at most, 2 weeks post op so you may want to post this question in the August post op thread or start a thread for this question in the Post Op forum.

I hope you get some great suggestions and are able to get all your Protein and meals daily soon.

Today I get to eat food for the first time since surgery. Although it is mashed foods it is food! Scrambled egg here I come. I hope it all stays down. Good luck to me.

Oh enjoy! I keep fantasising about a jacket potato, baked for 90 mins until lovely and soft, mashed with a fork. Then add low fat spread, salt, pepper and devour (well a couple of mouthfuls anyway) lol. The simple things!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
