I got confirmation that the reviewers have my file on Saturday. Hopefully, I'll hear something soon. My surgeon still doesn't have a confirmed date when he'll be performing surgery again but he's saying end of November or early December. There are 13 people ahead of me when he does start scheduling and he does about 10 surgeries a week. How are you keeping yourself sane while waiting?

I got my official approval letter on Saturday, I went on my insurance company's website earlier in the week and got my status. My surgery date is December 11, and I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet. I am having no problems with the diet, two shakes and 6 oz of lean Protein and a cup of veggies per day, I started a pre pre-op diet 3 weeks prior. That has helped me combat the hunger issues. I sampled different shakes on the pre diet to find one that I could tolerate. I am looking forward to my surgery so I can start a new chapter in my life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.ย  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.ย  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? Itโ€™s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so Iโ€™m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight.ย It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey โค๏ธย Together, we got this!
