how do you know if something didn't digest?

Recommended Posts

Im not really sure what it feels like or how to know if you can't digest something? Are they're certain foods any of you have a hard time digesting?

You will know if you cannot digest something because you will vomit and your belly will hurt and sometimes you may hurt across your chest! I personally cannot digest hamburger patties to this day and I'm 2 years post op. Also anything soft and doughy comes right back up. You will discover foods that work well and foods that you will need to stay away from. It's a process to find what works and what doesn't. Best of luck to you! ;)

For me I ate some chicken today that was kinda dry and it didn't hurt going down, but when I tried to drink some Water 30 minutes later the chicken and water came back up. It will find a way out if it can't go down. My surgery was 9/4/13.

Corn. We don't have the enzymes to break it down so it comes out in the same shape it went in. =))

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
