Wow, 2 weeks later and you already feel the surgery was a waste. Pretty extreme. I recommend taking a step back and looking at what your body has gone through since August 20th. A-you had major surgery. That is hard on your body. It takes time to heal and get back to normal. B- you've lost 16 pounds. SIXTEEN POUNDS. In just over 2 weeks....you don't consider that amazing? Because I consider it beyond amazing. Your body has burned off 56,000 thousand extra calories....you've averaged losing a pound a day. That's pretty freaking amazing. Your body is currently screaming what the hell has she done to me and trying to keep you from starving it to death.

Take a deep breath and look at how successful you've been so far. Then decide what exactly you were expecting from this surgery. Weight does not magically disappear, your body had to burn the calories to use the fat you've stored. This takes time. And, as you'll see if you research on here, stalls are a completely normal part of the process. They happen, get used to them. If you're already stressed 2 weeks post op this is going to be a long journey for you! Cut yourself some slack, follow your doctors orders and the weight will start to come off again. It may be 2 days, it may be 2 weeks, it may be 6 weeks. But if you follow the rules you will succeed, but it does take time.

Good luck, you'll do fine, just breathe!

I agree with soccermomma, I hit a stall as well and was stuck on one number for close to 2 weeks, starting at 2 weeks post op. I was frustrated and upset as well, but I kept telling myself that it is normal and this too shall pass... And it did, but I stalled for the longest 2 weeks of my life. It is starting to move down slowly again. My advice is to be patient and keep doing what you do. It will start moving again.

There is no schedule for stalls and no substitute for patience. Stay positive. Stay patient. Stay focused on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can. You will lose weight. And you're gonna love the new you!!

As a vet on this site your post is probably the most common post on here. Newbies usually freak out on their first stall. It is very normal to freak out when your body stops. You start doubting everything. Your hormones are out of whack due to the weight loss and you brain is desperately trying to figure out what the hell you have done.

It is laws of nature - you did not waste your money and you will lose the weight. Everyone is different and will lose differently - different times and amounts. You quickly learn the fine art of patience during this journey.

The facts are your body is still recovering from major surgery. Your body is in what is called starvation mode. It believes you are in the lean winter months of our ancestors and it must hold onto everything you put in it. You brain is currently throwing a temper tantrum and is so pissed off and confused. It went from eating hamburgers, pizza and sweets to now only drinking a few oz every hour and Protein Shakes. It would piss anyone off.

Instead of getting upset for not losing weight the past five days - Celebrate the positives. You have lost 16 pounds in two weeks!!!! That is great weight loss and I know there are several people on the site that are jealous of your loss. Try not to step in the scale for a few days. Find another way to measure your success. I wrote out goals for myself and worked to achieve them rather than looking at numbers on a silly little machine.

Finally I will say this. You will hit many many more stalls during this journey. During most stalls you lose inches so your body is still losing during your stalls. When you hit your stalls take a deep breath and don't stress. Also in several months you will get on here and read a post just like the one you wrote today and you will smile knowing exactly what they are going through and also know it is temporary.

Hang in there!!!!!

Thanks - when I finally figured out that this journey is more mental than physical I was able to relax. My favorite saying is the serenity prayer and it fits with rny.

Accept the things I can not change

Courage to change the things I can

And the

Wisdom to know the difference

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
