I'm getting so discouraged. I had surgery on August 6 on that say I weighed 302 And as of today I'm 6 weeks post op I weigh 274 :( I've been at a stall and it's driving me crazy seeing you's who had surgery later in the month already lost more weight than I have ahhhh what am I doing wrong other than exercise I know I need to exercise more and get in more Protein but it's sooo hard especially since I have no energy' date=' I get dizzy so easily and get black and white spots Infront of my face feeling like I'm in a tunnel when I get up off my couch it takes up to a couple mins to stop... Idk what to do feel like I'm at a loss :( and I have noone to talk to... Driving me crazy ... Anyone else who feels like they're at a loss lol I need people to vent with hahaha[/quote']

I had my surgery on the 6th and I was 330, I'm at 292 now. I am hardly eating. When I do it doesn't sit well, or I throw it up. I am getting enough fluids because at two weeks out I got dehydrated. Didn't go to Er cause I was not having an Iv put in, i just started drinking Water non stop. I barely am getting maybe 20-30 of protein a day and protein powders or shakes don't sit well. I am getting more energy as I'm eating more. I get dizzy every time I get up. I have to hold on to the walls or couch. I am not seeing any spots. I feel the same as you about having someone to talk to. My friend had the surgery about 10 years ago but she just moved across the country and it's hard to find time to talk.

Ladies I would say that if 3 of you had surgery around the same time and have lost around the same amount then you must all be doing something right! Focus on the positive! Enjoy your new tool! Be patient and follow your Doctors orders the weight will come off. Good luck to you all! Keep us posted on your progress. We are here for you! You all are winners and I'm proud of you!

I have had lots of trouble getting enough Protein in general, but today I maybe got 10g, though my excuse is I am in the middle of an 11 hr roadtrip and I don't want to risk getting the shits on the side of the road lol

That's how I feel every day when I have work! I don't have time to be sick at work. Lately nothing except Protein Bars have been going down terrible. I did have a chicken salad today and it was magical. But everything else was terrible. Makes me sad.

I also had surgery on the 6th. I am down 31 since surgery. So we all seem to be close in how much we lost.

I forgot I had this sweet cocktail glass. It has the oz measurements on the side.

I just made a Protein shake with milk, About Time birthday cake Protein, instant Decaf coffee crystals and ice. Pretty tasty and I HATE protein shakes!

Last night I cooked dinner for my family for the first time since I had surgery. I even made dessert. I tasted the casserole and the dessert but had no desire to eat my little portion.

I guess I am still scared to eat much. I don't like the feeling I get when I over do something or something doesn't sit well.

I know I am not eating enough and not getting enough Protein in like I should. I'm working on it though.

Hang in there.... It will get better. Things are still pretty swollen at 5 weeks out. Water water water is the big thing. The dizzy and the spots the other girl has are definitely dehydration signs. I get them too and know I've got to push the water when I do. Actually drinking without a straw works the best for me...the straw maybe pushed air bubbles. Idk. The only powder I can get down without gagging is the nectar lemon tea which tastes like an iced tea instead of the thick milky stuff. I think we're all on this forum looking for help and support....I'll be your friend :)

I had my 3 week appointment today and am certainly disappointed that my number on the scale was only 12lbs under my surgery day weight. Afterall, I have a lot of weight to lose. However, the doctor was not concerned at all (he thinks I'm still carrying some of my 20+ pounds of Water weight), my wounds are healing nicely, I can have some vegetables now, and I've already gone down a size. Hoping to get closer to my personal goal by my 100 day appointment in December. And OHMYGOODNESSIMSOHAPPY I DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK IN FOR 3 WHOLE MONTHS!

Hello all, I had my surgery on August 27, 2013 and immediately suffered major complications. I spent 11 days in hospital and another 13 days at my daughter's house because the pain I was having was crippling and prevented me from climbing stairs. I am home now I am feeling better and I have lost 31.5 pounds. My only issue is getting in the Protein. Good luck too all of us.

Does your hospital offer support groups? Those can be so helpful in at least not making you feel alone in the journey.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
