Anyone NOT needed plastic surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am a new post op - but this talk of plastic surgery makes me nervous some. Anyone have luck in not needing surgery to remove or tuck excess skin? Can toning help at all?

I think those who start low, at 213-220 (also very much depending on the genes and age) can get away with not badly needing plastic surgeries. Fitness/toning serve them better than someone who started at 300lbs and has a lot of extra skin left behind by massive weight loss. Also, take into account the height. All in all, there are happy cases out there who did not need extra skin removal. Actually, in my other forum, one lady posted a picture of herself at 6 months out and she shrunk amazingly. No extra skin anywhere. She bounced back great. Young age, smaller start weight and probably good genes is my only explanation of her success.

I need some plastic surgery more for my own self body image than anything else. I worked really hard on my arms in the gym and do not have extra skin there. My area is my tummy and boobs. My boobs look like saggy Water balloons. They went from a size 42F and now they are a 34 Dd only because of the extra skin. The only one that sees these areas that need work are myself and hubby. I continue to work out, but nothing can tack my girls back in place except a surgeon.

I didn't start out the day of surgery 197 I'm 5foot. I'm 34 years old. Since I wasn't omg the biggest person having Wls I figure it wouldn't affect me but guess what? I do need a lot of area fix. I'm not a fan of exercise & it won't bounce my body back so I'm not killing my self with exercise. I will go back to working out simply cuz it's something to do but after surgery is when I will exercise to keep in shape.

I guess I will have to play be ear and do what I can. I could start saving for plastic surgery - but I know that realistically there is no way that I can afford it anytime in the foreseeable future, My cousin had it 6 years ago and just got her new boobs last week. I know that at the minimum I will want my arms done - I have always hated them no matter how hard I worked out - and really would love to wear sleeveless with confidence one day!

I've never once in my life been able to wear a tank top or sleeveless shirt. Even when I was much smaller my upper arms have always been heavy. I can't imagine how loose they are going to be after surgery but I'm all for finding out. The plastic surgery jar has been started and pennies have been added. A goal is a goal, right?

Is lifting weights enough to not need surgery on arms? I've noticed my arms are getting loose skin and I wander if listing weights will help or if I should start thinking surgery.

The more muscles in the arms the better they will look but nothing can tighten the skin once its stretched and hangs. The only way to get rid of it is surgery.

I work out every single day doing soo many freakin arm exercises its not funny!! I have amazing muscle tone and defined arms.... With bat wings from hell underneath. So in my opinion it just depends on the person! All the rest of my areas are pretty tight except my boobs have withered away as well!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
