Any October surgeries out there...

Recommended Posts

Home from hospital yesterday. Was not as bad as I thought it would be. Got up and started walking right away so didn't have gas pain. Doc says I am one of his better patients. Hardest thing for me is getting in and out of bed and haven't been able to sleep on my side yet. I feel like I have done a million crunches. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care...Lisa

My Dr called a few minutes ago and told me the other Dr's wife just went into labor so they have going to have to postpone my surgery. He's going to call me tomorrow to discuss the date.

It sucks, not because it's postponed... But because I have to drink all this crap again. : (

When is your new surgery date? That totally sucks that you have to keep on liquids. Hope you get it soon.

Thanks! I hope it's soon too.

I'm waiting patiently (yea right lol) for him to call me for a new date. I don't have to stay on liquids but I do have to stay on my 2 week diet of 2 Protein Shakes, and a sensible dinner with 3 oz of meat.

I had hubby take me out for broiled shrimp and crab legs for my last supper before surgery. I ended up eating only 6 shrimp and the 1/2 crab legs, so it wasn't too bad. I told hubby the best thing about postponing is I get another last supper lol.

I will have to have a day of liquid and drink 2 liters of the stuff that cleans you out before surgery. It's called Moviprep. I had to drink 8 oz every 15-30 minutes after 6 pm. I gulped it every 15 mins just to get it over with. Lol

I hope both hear from them soon with a date and that is isn't too far in the future! The two week liquid date was a cake walk compared to the awful bowl prep. Sorry to hear that you also have to do that again.

Don't whip yourself. We are in this position of needing help becuase we have had a hard time moderating our food, and you have been put on really limited caloric intake without the benefit of the surgery yet. I would be frank with your surgeon so he/she can determine if this will impose any saftey issues with the surgery. You must protect your health. Think about ways you will cope the next time you get really hungry and have those measures ready (like lots of broth)

Im hearing you Chelle. Also cheated on day 5/14 of diet. Last night I was about to start chewing my own arm off. I actually felt posessed when reaching for food I knew I shouldn't be having. Totally out of control hunger and craving. Feel terrible about it. I know I have a problem. Almost like this surgery won't work for me cos I can't even stick to my pre-op diet. Urgh. :-(

Today I got all my pre-op appointments done but still seems unreal. My mom is still trying to talk me out of it. Like I'm not worried enough on my own. I know she means well though. Ugh, signing all those forms at the hospital about possible complications! Just wish it only impacted me, and not my kids. I know this is the right thing to do, but feel a little selfish too, thinking how it will impact them if something goes wrong.

Typically when the surgeon submits to insurance for approval, they put down a random date then when you actually have your date the surgeon's office will get a reauthorization. My guess is your surgeon's office put down the 21st and will change it accordingly.

I'm not sure what you mean by being "approved for one day anything over that would have to be clinical"...do you mean you are only approved one day in the hospital?

Thank you so much that really helps clarify things...I was freakin out...and yes they said one day in the hospital is all they approved me for...that seems crazy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
