I've been reading some of the posts for the past few months and figured it was time to join.

I have a surgery date :clap2: of 3/20/07. My son will be traveling with me for support, we will stay a extra 2 days, just to look around San Diego.< /p>

:hungry: I will start my liquid diet on 3/09/07 and wanted to say thanks for the idea of taping the fridge door shut with duct tape, I was quite worried about how I was going to stay away from the fridge, I think this will work..

:) Thanks for all the support you've given me in making my decision, thru your posts, even though you didn't even know it.

Good luck on your new life, you don't have to be so afraid about the liquid diet only the first days are hard then it gets easier every day. You have to make sure your mind is focused on your goal and convince yourself that you are taking the right steps on the path to achieve them. Remember you're in control of your eating habits now not the food, you're not a prisoner anymore! you're a warrior RWAAAAAAAAR hehehe :P. That two things is what helps me every day to do things right. :)

Good Luck and have a nice journey :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
