Soda stream

Recommended Posts

I just saw a Soda stream commercial and they now have Crystal Light flavors for it. I know not to drink soda anymore but would this be ok? Is carbonation ok for us to have occasionally? The machine just uses Water, the Crystal Light flavoring, and a CO2 canister. Thanks.

The bubbles can cause your pouch to stretch. I wouldn't risk it.

How does it stretch pouch? It would seem impossible because the bubbles would take the path of least resistance, ie as a belch or flatulence. I'd love to know exactly how it stretches the pouch.

Gas doesn't come out instantly that carbonation will sit in your pouch until your pouch fills and then the gas will move one way or another but over time of doing so it could stretch your pouch.

I was told that your pouch never actually stretches. Over time, the tube directly below it starts to let a LITTLE food in it so you're able to eat a LITTLE more. As far as soda, I was also told that, you can have a little DIET soda after a while but not at first because it'll come right back up and probably hurt. That was just my doc though.... :)

Yeah my doc said carbonation is fine after a couple months provided its caffeine free. I can do diet soda as long as I let it sit for a bit to let the carbonation subside a little. If I don't my pouch hurts a bit. It won't stretch the pouch- it's got 2 openings and no valve. I think they tell us that to scare us as it's not the best choice of drink.

I agree. I think the docs want us to succeed so they do tell us this. Now some have issues with stuff like this & even sugar but I don't. I have been drinking soda more than I would like & I have got to stop. I think some here & there is ok but it's the person's decision. Glad you posted this because I have been having issues with the soda thing.

Soda has mo nutritional value and is best given up completely. There are such better options. I gave it up in April and do not miss it at all. I drink mainly flavored unsweetened Water. Anything in excess can derail your succsess. Your body craves water naturally.

You are so right. I noticed when I was drinking soda that I wouldn't drink water & it would trigger other cravings. I'm just calling last week my bad judgement week. I am back on track & don't want soda again!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
