Question- Has anyone who has already had surgery had a cold on the day of surgery? If so do they still perform the procedure? My surgery is Monday and I have a bad cold, nose congested and runny

I recommend getting it knocked out...take nyquil and lots of rest...that's what I did...they will probably ask if you have been on antibiotics or anything. Luckily I was able to say no as I don't think they would operate...

Tina call your surgeons office before you take anything. I just had my pre-surgery class and was told to discontinue Motrin, Advil, aleve, my Water pill, etc for 1 week before surgery. i was told I can have Tylenol and my felines tone Vitamins so call to be certain. I don't want you to mess up nothing. I have seen on here in the post op thread section where people had colds and still had surgery.

I say call surgeons office. Normally they want you healthy. And they don't want you taking any other meds. So call to check and b on the safe side.

I was told if I got sick before surgery to call my PCP and get it taken care of immediately...doesnt mean you cant have surgery, but just get as healthy as you can for the day...

Just did my consent signing and nutrition classes today. Pre-op diet officially starts tomorrow, but I started Sunday for good measure. It's just induction Atkins so not so bad.

It did hit me when I got home though that I am now less than a week and a half away from surgery. The panic feels like a hand around my throat. I don't know how I am going to sleep. Going to keep on praying.

We were told if we have any kind of upper respiratory infection they won't do it. I would call and ask.

I still can't believe I had surgery lol I'm a week and a half out and I was nervous as all hell but I had no complications and am doing alright. It hits me in waves and ill be like I need to get up and walk! No being lazy I don't want complications lol but other than that it's been fine. I don't really crave food at all, and it's a hassle getting liquids in but if you take it one step at a time you'll do great!

It's a surreal experience because for so long we have hoped and dreamed the day would come where we would get healthier and lose the weight and once it starts happening it's a great feeling.

Have faith and I can't wait to hear updates :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
