Who has tried pizza? How did you do with it? How long after surgery until u tried it?

I tried regular crust 3 months post op and the bread felt like a brick sitting in the bottom of my stomach. I made a pita last week using a small 80 cal tortilla and that went well. I am 4 months now. Just couldn't handle all the dough on a regular pizza.< /p>

I can do a super thin crust or I make a tortilla pizza. I crisp the tortilla before I put the toppings on it and make it like a cracker with light cheese and turkey pepporoni. I am 7 months out and have been using this as my 'lazy' dinner for a while now. I also do a light BBQ Sauce, grilled chicken and light cheese.

I did pizza about 4 months post op. Pre-surgery I could down like 4 slices ... post surgery I can barely get down one, I do get the very thin crusted pizza as well. I can do the thick stuff anymore. I'm 14 months post op and can still only do one slice... everything in moderation :)

I can't do delivery pizza anymore, which is a good thing! I'm in Chicago and pizza was my downfall. I can now do a small piece of frozen.

I ca do a slice plus 2-3 bites of thin crust....slowly :). But absolutely don't crave it, only eat it when we're at functions and that all we have.

my surgery was the 19th and I actually cheated and had a wedge of a personal pan pizza and tolerated it well but felt very full! I haven't had any pain, nausea, or dumping since surgery! fluids are steady at around 60 oz now.

I can eat a tiny slice of frozen pizza if its super thin. I can't eat ordered takeout pizza. Too chewy and greasy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
