Just wanted to shout out to my new friends! Lee, hope you get your approval soon - you have such a positive outlook! Connie, I am so impressed with you! You've had your band for 12 years?!! That makes me feel so much better about this being a tool for the long term. I will definitely be seeking you out for advice. I know that the band is not a quick fix and that I will still have to work hard at reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. Deb, you have had some great results - keep up the good work. I wish we had a support group here in North MS....maybe I'll find out about one when I go for my surgeon visit. Andre, sounds like things are going well for you - keep up the good work! Mary, I know you are so excited about your surgery Friday! I'll be thinking about you and praying for your success and recovery! I found a website tonight called bariatriceating.com. It had stuff like Vitamin and Protein supplements.I didn't know if the stuff was good, reasonably priced or overpriced. I was just wondering if some of you guys who have already been banded can recommend some of these products and tell me which ones are good and which ones are nasty? Also, where is the best place to buy them for the most reasonable price. I want to go ahead and stock my shelves with the things I'll need for after my procedure. Have a great day tomorrow, guys!

Ok, so this is gonna sound weird, but my doctor told me to take Flinstones Vitamins ! Swear. He said that it was a complete Vitamin that couldn't be beat on price and conveinence (sp?)..chewable and what not

As for shakes I think its all about what you like to drink. Theres some clear Protein shakes for the clear stage etc. As for taste, Im picky, and fell in love with the Eating for Life Shakes, these are shakes made for th eBody for Life Diet. Theres also tons of shake recipes online for them..yum

I went online and ordered them. They are fantastic. I have this weird thing about texture, and these werent powdery or too milky

if you want to try one, send me an email and I can snail mail one to you. i have teh ones fro women, and when my family and I, including my father, mother and sister did BFL, we all liked these shakes the most. Ive tried the MuscleMax or whatever at GNC and yuck..btw, you might find these shakes at a local health store, theres none around me, so i dunno

Oh yes...look at the walmart--"six star muscle fuel"....It provides 25 grams of protien each scope..so mix the 3 scoops for 75 grams. Then with the food you have in the 3 meals--you should be right at 100 to 110 grams of protien for the day. It's only $15.00 where I live--so each month I am getting me that 3 jars---it provides 27 servings the the "six star body fuel" is 34 servings--which provides on 20 grams of protein....make your choice...there are more choices in GNC---but don't sweat it--just look around for the cheable Vitamins and the liquid vitamins. Lets get busy....

How does the 6 star muscle fuel taste? Is it like a shake mix or something? Good luck on the Dr. visit - only 5 more days for you!

To mee it doesn't taste too bad. I have vanilla, chocolate and fruit flavored drinks....With the vanilla I am going to drop maybe 6 to 8 strawberries into it--make it into 12 ounces with some ice--But I am not too concerned on big time taste--we're only drinking 4-0z at first and down the line it'll be 6 ozs....With this amount--you have to just try it out. Maybe you'll like it. You do know we're not using sugar--so all of the sugar free items are going to be in play--try it...right at $15.65 for a jar that has 27 servings. That is basically 9 days...I am going to have me 3 Jars a month--since I already have 6 already.....So it will be ok for the time being. Getting between 75 to 100 grams per day. Then again--Look at GNC--their products are a bit higher--but we gotta do something....

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
