I think I found it. My heart rate was crazy and I was so shaky. I had to travel for work and I thought I was being wise getting taco meat and Beans with the cheese. Huge mistake. I'm still feeling shaky. Hope it passes soon

Thanks you. I had a rough 45min and it passed. Thank The Lord. I hope not to ever have this happen again but venturing out with new foods again I'm scared now.

I hate that feeling...If i am traveling, i usually bring my own Snacks and food with me cause I never know what I am getting from the outside and I never know how my pouch will react... (safe foods is what I call it...) *sighs* the things we go through now...

don't be afraid to try new foods...just do it when your home first...(works for me :)

My first was around week 3....but as you broaden out and are eating new foods is when you'll really find out.

Dumping can happen with any food/drink. If you eat or drink to fast you can dump. I had my first at 4 weeks post op - off Tums!! Myrtle the pouch tells me what I can and can't eat. If she doesn't like something, she throws it right back at me.

I don't think I have ever experienced dumping. I am over 4 months. I am careful about what I eat but now I wonder if I will? Ive thought about eating something sugary to test it....but I'm afraid that if I DON'T react....knowing that will be a problem.

Maybe I should just rely on the fear of dumping??

I've had plenty of episodes of food getting stuck and a couple of eating to fast w/similar painful unpleasant results. I haven't had anything w/sugar, fat, Pasta, rice, white potatoes or white flour - all things I've been told to stay away from. I don't know yet if I'm a dumper. The fear that I will is enough for me to avoid the foods I've been told can cause it. (I don't need to get burned to learn to stay away from fire. Lol) Whatever works...

Hang in there. It's really not that bad. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and can tell you I thought it would be a hell of a lot worse! There are horror stories for everything but it doesn't mean you have to be one. Hang in there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
