Do you feel well enough to get out of the house yet? 2 days after my surgery I couldn't stand just laying (ok, reclining) there in the living room any longer, so I went to Target, leaned on the shopping cart, and browsed the store. It was sooo nice to get out of the house, and really did wonders for me.

Did your surgeon give you any pain meds, and are you taking them? What hurst still?

How about renting some good movies, or having some company over? Or other things that help the time pass...

How long are you on liquids for?

I think a lot of us touched in depression right after surgery. You just agreed and accepted a "life-changing" surgery. I felt like I was in mourning for the life I once had, but once I starting losing and feeling the change in my body and energy levels...it was more of a "good riddance!!" Hang in there, you'll feel better soon.

Wheetsin's right, find some things to do to pass the time until you start feeling better.

I thank you for posting this, our surgery is Feb 23rd and of course my thoughts are continually of this procedure and how if will change our life. I was betting that I would have some depression, which would be odd for me as I am one of those gals, that smile and never show when I'm blue. Please let me know if and when this fades as it will help me to know what I can expect...I too think it will be more of a mourning of my old day to day ways.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. Today is better!! It's only been 6 days since post op and I know I have to give it more time. I still hope that I made the right decision....

Minimee...Good luck on the 23rd....:)

Yeah, today is my 4th day after surgery, i'm not depressed but I've got this feeliing like, "okay, enough already, i'm ready to get ON with my normal life." I did go to out by myself for a bit but that was kind of hard, my depth perception is a little off for whatever reason. Just give yourself some time. Any kind of surgery is enough to make you feel out of whack and not like yourself.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
