So glad I found this site, my journey so far

This is the first time I'm posting on this site , so I'd like to tell my weight loss journey up to now. I had my gastric bypass surgery on 1/29/2013. Doctors told me it was a textbook surgery , no complacations& I was home in 5 days. Once I was home I had a hard time keeping anything down, after a few calls& some trial & error we found out that I can't tolerate the vitimans. Once I stopped them things were going better. My first weigh in was 3wks post op& I lost 30 lbs ( sorry my weight the of surgery was 386). I weighed myself 2days ago & I now weigh 298! I can't even remember the last time I was this weight. I have chronic RA&Fibromyalgia, so I have these problems to deal with, along with the weight thing, but I have a hard time getting my family to understand, that sometimes I just can't get up &go & do everything they want, for instance my granddaughters birthday party I ended up missing , cause I was vomiting,so much that day I just couldn't get there, I felt so terrible, but my son is still mad at me& won't let me see the girls. Anyway I digress, does anyone else have some similar problems? I'd love to hear you. Sorry this is long & rambling, but I'm writing this at 3am , I have no one to talk to. Thanks for listening.

Hi and welcome. I'm new to the site...had my surgery 4/29/13. Down 33. Lbs.from 297. I have a major issue with chronic pain...something called Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome which I got after a heart surgery 13 years ago. The doctors always told me losing weight would help my pain so I had rny after trying to lose for many years. I've had no issues with the surgery and missing things but boy do I understand people not understanding chronic pain issues. I'm sorry your son doesn't understand and I hope you feel better soon.Congratulations on weight loss!

Your son is really upsetting to me. I am so sorry that you have to go through this! Recovering from this surgery is hard enough! And now with your added things I am sure it Must be even tougher.

I am thinking of you and hope he gets his act together.

And very well done on your loss!

Hi Marymcg62....this is my first post but i finally feel like I have someone who might understand how I feel not only with this weight loss surgery but with fibromyalgia. I have something very similar called ankylosing spondylitis and was recently told I can't take my miracle drug Humaria anymore.... What are you doing to relieve your pain?

I'm new 2. Don't think I know how to post correctly. Had my surgery, May 13, 2013 I also had a hernia repair. Can't keep too much down, got the big mean D. Little energy. Mash potatoes, Protein powder mixed in creamed with vegetable broth. So, good & a Popsicle. Nice weigh lose! I started @258. I also have Lupus, Fibro Arthritis; looking forward to the weight loss.

I think mild excercise might help....I was in constant pain and taking some time to do Water aerobics in the therapy pool at our Y helps. Doesn't help my insomnia though.I need to exercise to lose weight anyway and swimming and walking helps.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my first post. I'm not sure how to answer someone directly yet (I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world. To Lekea 79 right now I'm not taking anything for my fibro. I used to take Lyrics & when I lost my health ins. My Dr put me on Gabapentin, but I'm not taking it now the pills are so big, I'm afraid to take them, even broken in 2. I'd love to send a friend request (if that's what it's called on this site) to all of you,

I hope this is how to respond ! Thanks for asking, I am keeping things down & feel a lot better. However, I can't stop thinking about food& started eating food. Last night I ate everything I could find. I didn't get sick but realized I was back to my old ways. Today, I am trying to get back on task. I clearly need to establish some new routines. I'm happy to have the support of this site. I would appreciate any tips.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
