Weight loss too slow !

Recommended Posts

I wanted some feedback on your experience post up with weight loss. I'm 7 weeks out and have just lost 30 lbs. I've stuck there for about 2 weeks now and I'm getting worried at this point, even have considered calling my surgeon or primary care. I just went back to work this week and I feel great otherwise. Just wondering if I'm expecting too much too soon.

Thanks for sll the support!

Hi I think you've done really well. Although I've not had my op yet I'm thinking it all takes time and some lose quicker than others and maybe people with more to lose it goes faster like on a ordinary diet? Good luck xxx

I'm sure you feel discouraged but from what I've heard in support group this is quite normal. Your body thinks, in the beginning, that your trying to starve it so it holds on to everything. After awhile your body will relax, your hormones will level out and your metabolism will kick in and the weight will come off. For example, one last in group talked about how it took her almost 3 months before she started seeing consistent weight loss. Also, talk closely with your nut and doc. I've also heard that not getting all your Water and Protein in will cause slow weight loss. I hope this helps and you soon are back on track. Best of luck on your journey!

Chris

I don't think your lose is slow at all. I am 4 weeks and hit 23 lbs. You are averaging alittle over 4lbs a week which I think is great! Make sure you get all your Protein, maybe even up it, and all your Water. I think you are on track!

Hi I'm new here. I had my surgery 4/22/13 I have only lost 26lbs after a month. I don't know I guess that is not so bad. I have never lost 26lbs in a month before.

Somehow I thought it would be quicker.

I told my doctor I was stalled, he told me to stay off the scale. Only weigh once a week.

I agree with your doc! 26 lbs in a month is crazy good!! That is almost a lb a day. I would be thrilled with that. Celebrate your victories and remember it is a marathon not a sprint!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
