Yikes... how far out from surgery are you? I would tell the technician that you just had RNY surgery and cannot drink too fast or too much. Maybe see if there is something else you can take. Please let your physician know this.

Well I had surgery in January of this year. I tried drinking the drink and it made me throw up. I called the ct people and they are having me come to the hospital and try a different drink.. This is gonna suck. I don't wanna keep throwing up while trying to drink this. Almost wanna change my mind and not get the scan

I had to do it 4 days after my RNY, they had me drink half of the bottle and gave me 25 minutes to do it.

I had to drink it 5 days after surgery for a cat scan. They told me to just drink what i could. Had no problem with it.

I was told to drink what I could. I was able to keep it down with our too much problem. I was about 5 months post op when I had to do it.

I had one a few months ago and instead of trying to drink all that Water I chose to just drink the stuff they put into the Water. I gagged a little but kept it down.

I had to do lots of cat scans after surgery due to a leak. Also had one about 6 weeks post op, for the leak as well. they gave me a clear liquid type to drink. I just told them I had rny so they didn't make me drink a lot of it. It did however make me dump every time I had it. :/ good luck with yours.

Well yesterday I was able to drink the Water mixture with the dye in it. Wasn't too bad. Only bad thing is last night I developed a bad reaction to the Iv contrast they gave me... Sucked!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
