2 week lean protein diet question?

Recommended Posts

So I'm on day 8 of my 2wk lean diet and I'm only supposed to have 3oz of Protein however I know that on a few days (like today), I had more than 3oz. I've always heard that you can never have too much protein (as far a meat) is that true? Should I be worried?

What kind of diet have they got you on. I've not heard of such a low protein diet. That is one thing you should be allowed to have, but I'm not your doctor or nurtionalist. I know when I had the band I was allowed at least 60 grams of protein, 64 oz. Water, and a smart one tv dinner or one that is higher in protein and very few carbs. Pretty sure when I get bypass it will definitely be similar, as their shrink brought it up that I should go on it a couple of weeks before surgery, haven't talked with the doctor, that will come on 5/30 after he removes the band. So my answer would be "no" as long as it is lean, grilled, broiled or baked.

Its a 5 meal diet, 3 Protein Shakes and 2 meals. For the meals I can have either lean cuisine, healthy choice, etc. But those meals must have @ least 14g of protein and 300 cals or less. If I cook I can only have 3oz of protein, plus veggies.

Okay, now I got it. Don't know how many grams of Protein Shakes are, but just my Protein Powder is 20 grams, so I would drink three or four then one lean cuisine, etc same as you. If you cook your own, then in looking at my book giving me the grams of different foods and restaurant foods, the grams very on what type of meat you are eating. Steak (any kind) cooked 3 oz (which is 4 ozs raw) is 23 grams of Protein, chicken breast roasted 4 oz is 36 grams (no skin). One website you can check is www.CalorieKing.com. I happened to have purchased the book so I can carry it. I use it to count carbs as have to calculate insulin to give myself on my carb intake. Once I have bypass then definitely will use it for protein counting even though I pretty much do that now because of my band. Really don't think if you go over your protein it will matter. Also you might do a search on this forum for "Protein".

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
