MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

I was on 800 cals a days and had stalled. Lifted up to 900 and lost another 4lbs so yes too low calories may make the body panic in preservation mode. All I know is I'm still loosing and not gaining. Slowly but surely. Getting closer to the target one week at a time. Isn't that what it's all about?

I'm so glad you all said something about starvation mode! Definitely helped me to break through my latest plateau.

Hi there I have found that by increasing my calories to about 800 per day and increasing my water' date=' my weight has started to come off quicker. The old story of starvation mode is definitely true....try increasing your calories a bit and see what happens. All the best[/quote']

Ok it's worth a try!! Thanks!!

So I haven't updated in a while but I am still here. It will be 10 weeks tomorrow since I've had my surgery (May 7th). It was tough in the beginning but I think I have hit my stride. I am 69 pounds down and everything is loose including my clothes ;). I am eating well (even though my body does allow me to eat sugar) but I make the choice not to eat it. Started working out during the week which includes Water aerobics twice a week, the elliptical three times a week, and weight training three times a week. I have started hiking again which I so missed and I walk around my place or the river when I can. I love being this active and I can tell the difference in the way I walk and sit. My goal is to be 100 pounds down by my August 21st post-op appointment. Of course it's a goal and if I don't reach it then I will shortly after. Still not able to cross my legs but I will be there soon.

I hope everyone is doing good. I don't have any pictures yet but hope to have some posted in the next few months.

I thought I was eating enough, but I tracked everything I ate for the past four days, and if I didn't push, I tended to stop at 450 calories. Wow. So, I am really pushing to keep to a meal/snack schedule and faithfully keep a diet journal. Estimating just didn't work.

I love my fitness pal. I can track everything. And with friends you can see what they are eating.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
