well 30 days post op today. Only lost 14 lbs in 30 days. My stall did break though. I must admit, although it is frustrating to not have lost a few more pounds, my overall loss is still 51 lbs and I am at the lower end now where losing as little as 5 lbs is noticeable now.... but I am having sleep issues because my knees have gotten boney and I must sleep with a pillow between them. My hip bones are also digging into the bed (regardless of how soft our mattress is) and it's painful. I am still at 185 and clearly look overweight, but I am actually not minding my curves today as I had 3 months ago 51 lbs heavier.

I hate to say it but I'm glad to hear others are in the same boat as I am. I had my surgery April 15th and I've only lost 14.5 pounds. I'm five weeks in and actually gained 2 pounds so that makes my weight loss 12.5 pounds. I decided to not get on the scale today and wait till my weigh in day I've givens self which is Mondays since I had my surgery on a Monday. My starting weight was 251 and my weight yesterday was 238.5 I was at 236.4. Uughhh please tell this gets better!

I was 198 on the morning of my surgery' date=' after having just lost about 40 lbs in 11 weeks.

I am 3 wks post op tomo and have lost only 6, maybe 7 lbs and not 1 lb in nearly 2 weeks.

I wonder if this is an issue of being at a lower weight overall to start, and in my case, just having the lowest metabolism ever.

But I am a little angry - I did this surgery because I am a chronic Yo-Yo'er (as well as PCOD, insulin resistant, and type II Diabetic etc etc) but I was losing weight faster, naturally (typical of my yo-yo-ing)

I am sad to know that in 3 wks I have lost only 6 lbs and worried. I see my Dr on Friday.[/quote']

What is your resting metabolic rate? Mine is 1047 and I am worried I wont lose.

Ok that's not as bad. Resting metabolic weight is how many calories it takes to sustain normal function ( stay the same weight) if you don't do anything. Conceivably it means you would lose a lb a week if you ate 1258 calories a day with no exercise. I would just keep doing what u r doing and know it will come off. Sometimes bodies go into " fight" mode after surgery so don't worry. To raise your Rmr you eat Protein and do strength training. High RMR is good! :)

Correction : if you ate 1058 calories a day not 1258. Remember 3500 calories burned is a lb so 500 times seven days is 3500. Hence the lb. Hope this helps! :)

Also....sometimes the number on the scale isn't moving, but as long as you are exercising your measurements are getting smaller so don't beat yourself up with the scale. Stay focused and keep up the good work and congrats on your new tool!!!

Wow so glad I found this thread and that others are slow losers as well!!! It gets discouraging when I see all these people losing weight so fast!! I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and have only lost 8 lbs. and that was all the first week! I am starting to actually get depressed :(

My surgeon is worried I'm not losing fast enough. I started at 265 lost 25 the first month and only 10 the second month. I was Plateauing left and right. Very frustrating. So he told me on Wednesday I need to walk 5 miles a day, integrate weight bearing exercise 3x a week and cut out all carbs. I have to be honest I have been having trouble getting 5 miles in every day due to hip pain. And I'm not getting in any strength yet. I'm joining the gym next week. he said keep my Protein intake to solids as much as possible to keep me full longer. I need to eat mostly meat and cheese. NO CARBS. just cutting out carbs broke the plateau and I've been losing almost a pound a day. I only get about 5-10g of carbs from cheese and dairy since its impossible to cut out all carbs. But I suggest everyone look at their carb intake and cut down.

I thought fruit was ok but it stopped my weight loss.

I'm a slow loser also and I've already cut out most carbs.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
