I got as far as the seminar and the first office visit. I Find myself worring about if the Doctors office will follow the guidelines of the insurance as far as documentation to saving money for the balance of out of pocket cost. Time is draging and December seems a hundred years away. Has anyone else gone through this?,,,,,,,,,,I have been needing this surgery for years. i just got a new Job and its covered with companies insurance. Im so excited. its like it to good to be true. But worried about the ball dropping.

Think positive. You know what coming off the subject each time I would take a school test my hubby has never said good luck not once & I actually fail. My daughter wishes me luck each time. I always think positive & don't let him get to me. I'm bad in math & I have no time to study with 3 kids but I need to pass to get a certificate to work in any pharmacy in any state even though I don't ever want to work again.

You will get this surgery & everything will turn out great.

I am in the EXACT same situation. It's so scary for me because this is my third time trying to get this done.

I know how you feel. I felt like I was always worrying about what the docs would find during my testing, if I would pass my psych eval, and so on. You will do great and it'll be here sooner than you think. I never though I would make it but my surgery is tomorrow and it doesn't seem real.

I was very luck where my surgeon's office was on top of everything !!! The surgical coordinators knew their jobs and what they had to do to get you approved. I suggest if you are not comfortable with your surgeon.... find someone else. It is very important at least to me to have a good relationship with your surgeon and their staff. I kept in constant communication with them and had a great relationship with all the people I worked with to get this accomlished.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
