Ok so i had band to bypass on april 16tg had a lot of pain on the left side right under my breast then last Sunday night I could feel a hard spot right where the pain was so i took meds and already had an appointment the next day with the doctor but then about 2am i went to go to the bathroom and I had a wet spot all over my pants where my incision and the pain was called the dr and they said sounds like an infection for me to cover it and just come in the next day so I did he removed the one staple that was left on that incision and it poured out pus when he took the staple out the incision opened right up so he had me leave it open and I just have to keep changing the dressing everyday and letting it come out I'm on antibiotics and I go back this Thursday the hard knot disappeared immediately after he opened it up but now I'm having another pain on my left side which is lower the weird thing is if I'm laying down or sitting down it doesn't hurt at all then when I stand up and try walking it hurts like hell I've tried taking milk of magnesia and I'm not sure I notice a difference but then just now I thought maybe its something to do my Protein Shakes I'm not sure has anybody else had this issue before it literally feels like I'm being stabbed in my left side right by my hip and my belly area

Did they ever offer you the option of a wound vac to accelarate the healing process?

The therapy involves the controlled application of sub-atmospheric pressure to the local wound environment, using a sealed wound dressing connected to a vacuum pump.

If your infection does not drain or heal properly (which causes tremendous amounts of pain), your surgeon should be able to let you know if you need one and/or if that's the case.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
