Hello! and am I making the right choice?

Recommended Posts

So far so good all I have left is my cardiologist and pulmonologist appointments left then its a matter of waiting for GHI so hopefully my surgery should be somewhere in late october yeah just in time for the Holidays! My Bariatric surgeon did mention I might have to take stomach meds along with my plavix so I dont get an ulcer down the road i dont know how I feel about this yet. Thanks Missy hope all is well with you.

I believe all RNY patients take Prilosec after surgery. My doctor says we may be able to stop them after 1 year.

I'm only 5 weeks out, have lost 37 lbs so far & absolutely don't regret my decision to have RNY gastric bypass! Absolutely the best decision I've ever made in my life. :) good luck with your decision.

Hi Chubbysey1

I'm new on this site too & I've been reading a lot on here as well! My doctor recommended the RNY to me as well. My first referral was denied because I have to take classes for 3 months. So I'll be starting Weight Watchers hopefully next week ((I've been waiting on the vouchers from my insurance & they should be here this week.)) Once I do the classes, they said my referral would be approved.....let's hope! I was leary all the way around about surgery too. My sister just recently had the Sleeve done & I thought that's what I wanted but after I seen her eat a slice of pizza ((and she just had surgery in Feb)) I thought to myself, Pizza is what got you fat to begin with, Why would you put that in your mouth! But with the Sleeve, she can eat pretty much anything (well, just has to limit the amount). That's when I knew I'd be better off with the RnY....i don't want to be fat again, I don't want to be able to eat a slice of pizza or anything else that got me to this weight. I'm glad everything is going good for you & I can't wait to read about your results! :)

I've been using body fortress chocolate 60g of protien per serving it's not bad. Any recommendations? I hear tastes change after surgery so i'm going to ask my Nut. if she has any sample packs.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
