Today was Day 1 of my two week pre-op diet. I have really struggled to get even 1000 calories. I've had cream of chicken Soup, Jello, popsicle... But I'm struggling with these shakes. I feel so nauseated ALL DAY. I wasn't able to get all 3 shakes down and I have a variety of flavors & brands to choose from. However, I did start feeling so hungry today so I had 8oz. of V8 and it was so filling! Haven't felt light headed or dizzy but wow, the nausea is no fun! Hoping tomorrow is better! Also, I decided to cut out any sodas or carbonated drinks. That hasn't been too bad and when I get tempted to cheat, which I did today, I sucked on a little piece of beef Jerky. I even chewed it but made sure not to swallow it. My dog didn't mind that I shared, lol! Hopefully I will end up acquiring a taste for these Protein shake!

I have to do Optifast. Not looking forward to it as I tried optifast for six months and lost...wait for it. 16 lbs. But if it prepares me I am game.:)

Day 9 finished today, it hadn't been easy, but I just keep telling myself that the only one I would hurt by cheating is myself. The toughest time for me is when I am alone, I hate being alone. Today I got on the scale and had actually gained 2 tenths of a pound, how the heck does that happen on an 810 calorie liquid diet? ?. Found a really great Protein Shake today with 20 grams of Protein and only 150 calories, so it allows me more shakes per day. Good luck to everyone and I am so glad to find you and this sight. Surgery date May 14!!!

Today is day 2 of my 5 shakes and 5 servings of fruits and veggies. I have to do this until my preop appt one June 11th. I had a tiny bit of a meltdown yesterday at work because I was so stressed...and usually I sit down with a huge platter of grub and do work. Not last night!!! I dealt with my stress other ways and snacked on cherry tomatoes. I come on here a lot for encouragement also...so thank you everyone!! We can all do this!!

Wow, i wasn't allowed any solids like fruits and veggies, just 810 calories of liquids only, shakes, Decaf coffee, decaf tea, chicken broth and sugar free Jello. I am an office manager for a food service company at a College, with access to a smorgasbord of food to eat everyday. So I feel your pain, but it starts to get easier, I am on day 13 and losing a pound a say, which is a good motivator to staying honest with the diet. Good Luck

Surgery date May 14th 2013

I start my pre op diet Tuesday. I have to do it for a month before my revision surgery from band to RNY in june 12th. It is 800 calories of liquid ( Optifast ). I am most worried about missing my daily salad consisting of greens, cucumber, tomatoes and white balsamic vinegar. Im not worried about missing junk just fruits and vegetables. Sad. :(

Good luck to you all! it really is very tough, but you get through it!

Just think of all the people out there who so desperately need this surgery, and who cannot have it for whatever reason.

And realise how fortunate you are. and that this suffering for a few days or weeks are NOTHING in comparison to the life long suffering they will remain trapped in. YOu're getting OUT, so enjoy the ride!

My surgery is June 21st and I start my 4 week preop diet on May 23rd. I can have 3-4 Protein Shakes and a a small dinner that consists of mostly lean Protein and a few veggies. It's going to be a struggle but I'm keeping my eye on the prize!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
