I am 10 days post op and a friend of mine had RNY with another surgeon and her diet was alittle more leniate than mine. So I mushed up an avacado and ate it one evening for dinner. Then I looked at my diet and it calls for full liquids til next wednesday. Have I hurt myself or stretched my pouch? I can't come all this way and fail now...please help

I'm sure you didn't hurt your pouch. If you read some of the posts, some people are leaving the hospital already eating puréed foods. Like you, my surgeon calls for 2 weeks on full liquids. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and just moved over to soft foods this past Wednesday. I would follow what your surgeon recommends and not worry too much about the mushed up avocado.

Whats done is done and there's no need fretting about it! I think you will be fine but go by what YOUR doctor and nutritionist have planned out for you! alc is right, every Dr. has a different plan.... I went from clear fluids to full liquids to pureed food for a month now on soft foods for 2 moths. When i go back in June they will probably put me on regular foods. If you are really concerened about it call the nutritionist Monday and I'm sure she will walk you through your customized plan!

I'm sure you didn't hurt anything with the avocado. I know how hard it is to stay on liquids. I'm starting my second week post op of all Clear Liquids and I want to pull my hair out! Just do your best to stick to the plan.

I will be leaving the hospital on pureed food, and avacado is on my list. I am sure you are fine, its just the doctors plan he wants his patients to follow! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
