Hey, my name is Kim and I am so new to all of this, I am in the mid stages of being approved! Have had all testing done, I've meet with my nutritionist, and the psych evals! Anyway, back to my question, I am ok with the post diet and the Protein, and the foods. But what concerns me the most is the liquids...I drink probably 200 oz of Fluid a day...water, crystal light, etc.....before lunch I've usually downed at least 60-70 oz. the nutritionist and my health coach have been telling me to start sipping and not drinking with meals to prepare! I was wondering if anyone else drinks a lot of fluids and how they coped!!! I feel like I'm drying up if I don't have a drink near by!!! Any words of advice, encouragement would be so appreciated:) Kim

I've always been a BIG drinker (HA!) and truly it's not been that big of a deal post-op. I, luckily, can take regular swallows but only 3-4 at a time instead of 1/2 a glass. I pretty much have a drink going all day long and typically have 8-10 glasses a day. I think because I'm doing it constantly I don't get 'thirsty' like I would have expected not drinking 200 oz a day :). It all works out!!

I'm close to 6 weeks or maybe further out. I was a huge Water drinker before, it has gotten better for me, I can down 33 oz within a 60min workout when I'm super thirsty. Other then that I always have my camelbak I my hand sipping all day long

I do the same and am 2 weeks post op. I get so thirsty and the whole sip thing doesn't get me anywhere so I take real drinks sometimes and then do the sip thing. If I'm tolerating it and its not during the off limit windows then I don't think it's a prob ..?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
