I am 8 weeks post op. I have long hair and am trying to prepare to lose some of it. I haven't had short hair since the 3rd grade and never would have considered it pre surgery due to the round face, double chins, etc. today I got my hair cut short! It is so totally different and I love it! My mom said I am looking like a new person!

Today while commuting to work I glanced down and actually saw my lap. Lol . It wasn't just boobs, roll, roll...it's the small things. I was surprised and it has made me feel great today. To actually see change and feel positive.

Had to replace my XL gym clothes with a medium size pants and shirt. I went to the gym and a group of young guys commented on how great I look! Made me feel good!

My new gym outfit!!!

My compression shorts are so loose they just flop around on me. 3 months ago they were tight! Life is good! Plus I got hit on again today!!!! I could get used to this. And, for the very first time ever, someone said 'you look awesome, you don't need to lose any more weight!!!' I told her I had 50 til a normal BMI...she thinks I'm nuts :)

Right before I had my surgery a good friend of mine asked what my goal size was' date=' and I told her a 10. The day I came home from surgery, she came over and had bought me a pair of jeans from Victoria's Secret in size 10. I remember looking at them thinking, "wow, I will never fit in these tiny things".

I wore them today :)[/quote']

Wow! I bought pair of size ten "motivation" pants.....someday...sigh

When I had surgery I had only one pair of work slacks, one pair of jeans, and a few shirts that fit - I refused to buy bigger things. A month post op I got rid of two bags of big clothes. I passed them on to a friend who had surgery so she could use them for her transition to a smaller size. Thursday I went through all the things in my closet and bureaus and I found enough clothes that were too big for me to fill two very large bags - again! Some of these things I never even wore! My clothing options are so varied - I love getting dressed now! :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
