my story and I am sticking to it

Recommended Posts

I am new to this whole process. My surgery date is April 10, five days after my birthday. I have wanted to have surgery for the last 10 years. I knew alot of people who have had either the band or RNY and at first in 2003 I was on a waiting list to have the band done and when I got to the front I had just turned 5 months pregnant (my little surprise angel) needless to say it was cancelled. I have always lost weight with pregnancy so that time I lost 52 pounds by the time I delivered but having post partum depression after I gained the 52 plus 20 in about 2 months. this is what happened after each of my pregnancies (3). Now here I am last year I was informed by insurance coordinator that my insurance was starting a pilot program and the first 100 that was qualifided could have surgery and they would pick up 80 percent(would have loved to have them say 100% but oh well can't have everything) of the bill. So just a little nervous as to being accepted I put off calling for a month then that one day in November 2012 I chose my surgeon and made that call. Here I am April 2013, 6 days before that day after all the doctors appointments, mental health evaluations, dieticians meeting and group classes later.

Yeah... congrats.... good luck. I was VERY lucky where my insurance paid 100% :) My process took 2 months from my first consult to surgery date, it went so fast and no pre op diet either. I was blessed :)

thanks pre op diet is going so so. Meal Replacement in morning snack a few hours later lunch if i dont leave it at home is a problem. had veggie burger one day. I think the liquids 3 days prior will be easier to remember not saying going to be easy just will have Meal Replacements and Protein crystals with me all the time. and i stock piled enough crystal light and low sodium broth to fill one of my cabinets at home.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
