but think of this... in those (quick) six months you will be going through a process to get ready for a life changing event. Read, learn all you can about your body, start exercising and get in to a routine now...it will make it easier for after surgery. Change your eating habits best you can, talk to people on here and get all the motivation.... there are some VERY successful people on this site and they know a LOT of good tips, ideas and really want to help.

The six months will go by fast, the spring is here more activites to be involved with all summer too... hang in there... this time is very important to your success! Good Luck!

The six months is actually a blessing in disguise. Use this time to start to change your eating habits slowly and start to get more exercise. I found that using this time to really work on the mind set helped esp in the first few weeks after surgery when things are a bit rough. We are here to support you and the time will go fast. Good luck and congrats on your decision.

The first three months feel like they take forever, but the last three go by in a blink. It's crazy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
