Hair is falling out like crazy! Has anyone been told why we lose hair? I've done low calorie before wls and never lost hair like this! I'm getting all my protein' date=' Vitamins and taking Biotin also.[/quote']

BethAnn, I checked into my favorite site, google, and found this. Thought it was good and so I am sharing. Hope it helps. I am not having this problem yet but I guess it is common between 3 and 6 months so it could happen yet. :(

Hi y'all!! Been a bit since I have been on. Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. I am doing okay minus the insomnia. I have been feeling the hunger coming back in the last few days' date=' which scares me but I guess is normal. I am down 114 lbs now. I can't believe it. I went from a size 30/32 to a 20 in jeans. Everyone in my house is now on a health kick because it was just too hard to do it alone. I craved the bad food everyone was eating. I started showing the people I live with how much they were really eating and they finally understand. I still have some left incision pain now and then. I am so happy with my results up until now. The one thing I want to do more is exercise because I haven't really done that too much. I did in the beginning but not really had much time in the last 5 weeks or so. I have been more actively going out and meeting up with my friends to get me out of the house more since I work from home. I did try an 'adult beverage' and didn't dump, it was my 34th birthday. I even had two bites of scalloped potatoes tonight, no dump. I am still mostly just eating meat and salad. I have a really bad time with grilled pork or chicken but still love seafood and Turkey chili. I am still suffering from insomnia really badly but I think it is just related to the other stressors in my life right now. I am going thru my closet this week and getting rid of all of my "comfort" clothes that I have been hanging on to just in case. Even my shoes don't fit anymore. I am so proud of this group! We are a tough bunch![/quote']

I am proud of this group too! ♥ I honestly dont know what I would have done without you guys. My support here has been almost non existent except for a few. I though my sisters would be there for me more and it is alittle disappointing. I have always been there for all of them and feel alittle let down. Dont know if this has to do with my depression or just feeling sorry for myself. I saw one sister at my daughters grad party and she didnt say one word about my loss and I hadnt seen here for a month. Not that I expect everyone to gush about it but a sister should support you right??? Am I being dumb?

Your loss has been AMAZING! You are definitely a rock star! I love that your family has changed as well. It must be really helpful for you. Hope your success continues my friend. Great job so far!

I had RNY on April 17 and have lost 54 lbs so far. Wish it was more but I'm doing better than I was before surgery. Attached a pic (hopefully correctly) of me during three stages of weight loss. First frame was May '12 and close to my highest weight of 310. Middle frame was the night before surgery when I weighed 274.8. Third frame is Friday afternoon when I was 221 lbs and trying on size 18 pants, down from 24 sometimes 26. 18 is size I haven't worn in maybe 10 years, hence the big grin on my face. Was a great feeling. :)

We are loosing hair because our bodies are in shock. That what my dr told me. It freaks me out how much I've lost. My hubby said I shed worse than the dogs! Dr. Said sometimes biotin won't work said if you don't see it making a difference stop wasting money on it. She said it will grow back.

Hi I am 4 months post up and this past 6 weeks my skin has gotten worse and worse. I never had perfect skin, but it is totally out of control now. Anyone experienced this?? It is as if it has something to do with having this op. I am 30 years old. This is so upsetting and embaressing!

I also want to shout this out - i have lost 75 pounds!

How crazy is that!

Even more crazy is that it couldve been more. If only i can get myself exercising.

This is a real problem. My circumstances of where i am living and working hours is as such that it is difficult to get to a gym and it is not safe to walk in my area.

Frustrated! And what with my skin breakin out terribly it leaves me quite in the dumps.

Any advice?

I dont exercise much either due to back troubles. You have lost much more than me! Im at 58 and I had surgery on 4-22. I am at 95 total with what I lost preop. I also thought id be at more of a loss by this time but I will take what I can get. My hopes were for 100 in six months because ive heard others do this. Dont think I will hit this. As long as when I see the spine surgeon, he agrees to help me and is happy with my loss, I will be happy!

I'm don't know if this is related to after surgery or not. I'm making myself eat. Yesterday and today I have forced down everything. I had went on a kick of extra Protein and I have actually gained weight!! I am not happy. I also am having just massive amounts of anxiety! I feel so irritable and feel bad at how I'm responding to it. My hair is falling out at such a wild extreme measure I'm almost convinced I will be bald before its over. I worry nonstop about lay offs at work. I'm so tired of dealing with that stress. I just hate feeling this stressed and I hate I'm not seeing any real progress. I feel lagging behind. For the 1st time since surg I really feel like giving up and saying the hell with everything. I hate the thought of gaining weight! That makes me so upset.

I know what you mean by having to force yourself to eat. I ate so little the last few days because I was so busy. When I thought about it I literally had to make myself eat! I NEVER thought id have to do that! Sorry you are stressed. Im sure that doesnt help with your eating troubles. My stress is finally over for awhile. I have nothing coming up but the surgeon appointment on the 28th and im not stressed about that. What happens happens! The pain is slowly returning and I hope he says im small enough for the surgery but if not I will wait until I am.

I havent any Hair loss as of yet but according to you and others, it is probably coming! I am NOT looking forward to that even though I have such thick hair.

I really hope things get better with you! Dont give up, just brush it off and start fresh! The loss will happen as we know it just happens at different paces! You tried something new and it didnt work so go back to what you know and what worked before! You can do this my friend d! You deserve it! Hugs to you!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
