Today marks 50 pounds lost since surgery! Kind of hard to believe. Has anyone else noticed that strangers smile more often' date=' or that people in the grocery store strike up conversations, where as they didn't before? Was I that scary at 273 that no one wanted to talk to me? LOL! Glad to not be such an outcast by society's norms anymore.[/quote']

Scary at 273?? I'm 267 today, and feeling pretty good! It is strange how we are all different sizes when we start. When we lose weight, we think of where we used to be as huge. Then there is someone who is finally down to that same weight and feeling good! Funny how our body and weight perceptions are all so different!

Down to 267 this am! That is 36 down from surgery weight on 4-22, and 73 down from the start. I haven't been in the 260's for YEARS!! Feels good! Can't wait for that 250 mark.

I felt a little out of sorts with this exact same thing when I first signed on because of my hw and age didn't see to many comments where people started out as high as mine but then I had to look at the fact also not many females as tall as I am. but now I have been on here long enough to see hw higher and lower than mine and ages vary as well. And Dorian I also have noticed more looks and conversations not than before.

I agree. Weight is different on everybody depending on height, bone structure, and age. I can't imagine someone feeling so out of place at a weight where i am starting to feel good. But their body structure, and height may be very different from mine. I wish we could ALL just be excepted for what we are in this world and now feel like outcasts cuz we are bigger!

Wow if you were scary at 273 i must of been the Sea Hag at 358. All buddy types are different. See i look very good at 200, its because i have a large bone frame. If I'm at 175 I'm too skinny looking.

I had a friend in high school who was probably 120 soaking wet. She would always say she was sooo fat! I used to say, " if you're fat, you must think I'm the damn Goodyear blimp." That would shut her up! Come to think of it, I guess looking back, I wouldn't really call her a friend!

I am still friends (on fb) with a girl I went to high school with. She has managed to sleep/marry her way up in life. However her obsession with being thin is unreal and has admitted anorexia and extreme exercise. She looks 10yrs older than our age. Still calling herself a cow when she's looking like dried beef Jerky. I can't help but think she's suffering from as much self hate as I was suffering with as being fat.

My best friend is like that I still love her but she drives me nuts sometimes

I have worked around women like this for years and was told it is self hate but it is also the pressure to keep what they have sleep/worked so hard to achieve.

My sister is 5'7" and 123...never had a weight problem she's very active but literally eats more than anyone I know...my mom was the same. Very crazy metabolism...she's one of THOSE. We live in a beach town and she's constantly asking me how she looks in her bikini. I finally came to realize that it's just what she has to do to make herself feel better about her own body insecurities (read: no boobs). Of course she's my sister so I can forgive a lot. My mom and she would often cackle about fat people until I confronted them...I asked if they would talk about a minority that way. That shut them up right quick.

I was 299 lbs on 1/15/13, and lost 38 lbs before RNY on 4/29/13. At 7.5 weeks out, I have lost an additional 23 lbs. I wish I were losing more quickly, but at least I'm losing. But, if I look at the big picture, I've lost almost 60 lbs since January. Actually, I've only received a few comments about my weight loss. But I'm wearing a smaller clothes size and I feel better about myself. I can hardly wait until I get below 200 lbs. It will probably take months, but I am on my way. Anyone else losing this slowly?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
