Shit hurt but honestly, take advantage of the drugs...I alternated from pain meds to nausea meds for the first 24 hours...until I was able to start walking...it is a bit of a recovery but child birth was worse pain lol

That's not bad. Did it leave a noticeable scar?

I have had very little pain. Surgery 2/28 and home 3/2 and last pain med was 3/3. In past, I had 2 c-sections and a complicated gall bladder removal 26 years ago. I was loaded with adhesions from old surgery, so much that it took doc 5 hours to do surgery. It was laparoscopic. I had the best surgeon. He is one hour from my home, and even tho there are centers of excellence 5 minutes from my home, I chose him because he is excellent. Dr Andrei in Livingston NJ is my hero!

Sassy14 we have the same surgery date! How are you doing with cravings?

It's been interesting! I am sick of liquids and I hate Protein shakes. Yuck. I was much better when I could have coffee. I love my Decaf lattes which agree with my stomach. On Thursday I progress to puréed food--can't wait. Right now I am craving a scrambled egg and a mashed potato. Oddly, I seem to have lost my sweet tooth. Hope it stays away. I think the coffee, mostly warmed skim milk with a bit of decaf, is getting me through.

How are you doing?

I have been on the soft Proteins since 3/3, 1 oz three times a day, stuff like scrambled eggs, canned tuna, cottage cheese. Along with the Protein Shakes and Water. I have not had coffee, they told me to steer clear of milk. I miss my coffee! I am having a horrible time with cravings, have had dreams of buffets. I can have V8 juice which helps. I have lost my sweet tooth also, but I can't stop thinking about all my old favorite warm salty delicious fatty foods! It has been truly the most challenging time of my life!

It's really interesting how different each practice is! You should mention the cravings to your nutritionist. I was told I could have unsweetened applesauce if I felt weak or hungry.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
