March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone. Aside from my setback last week (being in the hospital with a large bleeding ulcer), I am feeling wonderful. I need to wait a couple more weeks until I can get more calories in before I start exercising heavily like I was before. It is really a bummer because I feel like I am losing so much muscle but, I am sure it will be better in the long run. Us Marchies are all doing so well!!!

Hello All.. Almost 3 weeks pre-op 6/12/13 was my big day. One of my worst days today for nausea, sick all day and it was my first day back to work, so glad it was only half day. Other than that the weight is coming off, I think slower than it should but since I am so nauseous all the time it is so hard to get my liquids in. Sometimes the thought of drinking, chewing my pills and eating just sickens me.. I know this is just a phase and it will get better, just venting and feeling sorry for myself.. So happy I found this App, it is nice to know I am not alone..

Thanks everyone!! I still have lots of moments where I feel fat or can't judge how I look to others like if people will think I look normal weight or far or chunky and I still have about 40lbs to go but I feel lots better now that all the weight is going away. I'm in an 8 petite or med dress and a med shirt!!! A lot different than a 2x !!!!

I am 4 months post op , surgery weight 282, current weight 206.4... I have just started getting 60 grams of Protein , of course it's mostly from Quest protein bars... I haven't had much of regular food because up until 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with an ulcer and had to take meds ...I'm still happy with my decision to have the surgery, just having a hard time with watching people eat at bbq's...

I love the weight loss and I'm wearing size lg in shirts which I don't think I've worn since elementary school , but I've lost my boobs and the sagging skin is only starting to get annoying but I knew about it going in and I'm healthier... Losing my hair so not very happy about that...hopefully it stops

Th Hair loss is getting out of control. I pray it stops soon. Prior to surgery I had hypothyroidism hair loss, and it was starting to come back and now this. Pretty soon, I won't have any hair left at all. I'm a MOH next month and I hope I have enough hair for the pictures.

Next problem: what is everyone doing for Breakfast? I drink my coffee, so I'm too full to eat, but am usually ready to eat an hour later, but I'm on the go by then. Aside, from Protein bars/shakes, anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about the Hair loss. Really hope to not have any loss except for my weight! Only at 66lbs down now. But still very happy, & healthy. Smaller clothes, and I can look at myself in the mirror.

Hello fellow marchers! I am too, faced with Hair loss now. It has been falling out in chunks specially in the front. I am also getting worried about slipping back into old habits. Eating junk, drinking, not getting in Protein or Vitamins. Drinking during meals. I keep trying to remind myself why I did this and trying to curve my habits. But after a month long stall, I find myself thinking "if I am not gonna lose anything I might as well eat junk". If I eat healthy I don't lose, if I eat junk I don't lose...

I am going to a local support group tonight and remake my commitment to my new healthy life style. I hope you are all doing better than me!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
