OMG - I am totally scared to death, I wont be able to handle the hunger. I can live with liquids only but how do you handle the hunger. My surgeon wants me on liquids for my liver to flush out the fats and to get my diabetes under control since not even insulins and pills can get it below 130. Yes that's plural for the insulin, 3 of them for a total of no less then 8 shots a day. Preoperative weight 252. Doctors Goal insulin free with a bonus of loosing weight. Janel's goal 132 but the doctor's said that weight loss is reason for the Rny. I have MS and MG which has caused major health complications.

I'm sooo hungry! lol....tasted all 3 Optifast shakes and the least one that t I purchased is the one I like the most, chocolate, especially if it's really really cold(out the freezer).

Either way, they all have a chaulky taste and cause a terrible after taste...Uuugh!

Sorry I ment to say weight loss isn't the reason for thr RNY. I will end up with one because of the MG complications. I've already had to have my pelvic floor rebuilt and part of my bowels rebuilt. Its causing my muscle tissue to diminish.

Thanks.. I have been following your progress... How did you survive the pre diet.? Did you have to.do Optifast?

I did not have to do Optifast, I just had to do 5 Protein shakes a day plus sugar-free/fat-free liquids....IT SUCKED!!!!!! The first 4 or 5 days was the worst. By the second week I was pretty much just numb from the horror of it all :D. That headache....OMG...nothing compared to the headache :). I drank (most) of my shakes and sipped on flavored Water and had a ton of sugar free Jello and was exhausted and miserable. And here I sit, 8 days post op. eating an ounce for a meal and haven't been hungry since I woke up post-op. back to work tomorrow!!!!

It really does suck, there's just no easy way around it, (I cheated on celery and lean turkey lunch meat the first week a couple times). I can't think of a single way to make it easier, you just have to get through it to get to your goal. (It's kinda like 2 weeks of labor but you don't get an epidural.......you think you're gonna die while you're in it but in the end it is so worth it!).

HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 238

How was your first day back at work?

It was just a half day (thank goodness!) it was nice to be back in the groove! I'm pretty tired and my tummy is much more achy than it has been...now off to cub scouts! Back to life, back to reality!

How ya feeling??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
