They can disconnect the tubing so you can dress.

Well i did it!! Done, April 2. Everything went well, except had a few blown veins, and major scar because of bottomed out post op with blood pressure. Didn't know what was happening because of GREAT drugs and just with it. Turned out fine. Eyes still a little blurry.

All in all not bad at all. I do have I pain tolerance but use the pump and once off ASK for meds. My hospital very specific ... Had to ask for EACH med you went, ex. Pain, nausea, Xanax etc. don't be afraid to ask! Tried to tough it out. BIg mistake.... Pain bad. Get up and walk walk walk... Tummy really goes down fast. Home now slept well ... Take ambien cr and all small pills whole ... No troubles. Not hungry but on phase 2 .. Try eat.. Need to drink more... Hard for me. All in all great post op

When I got the lap band they gave me a second gown to wear backwards to cover my backside when I went to walk.

Brought all kinds of PJ and robe, slippers did use any. Like to keep you in gowns... Front and back. Have compression socks on always and boots connected 24 except after cat. Is removed. Have drain and when they remove ... Blood so keep the old stuff at home... Overpacked way to much.

Bring phone, charger, toothbrush/paste, face lotion, iPad ... That's all if did right first time. Hospital had everything you need!

Yes maam! 17 days and counting! I'm all ready, just waiting for the final insurance word which the Dr office is sure they will approve. I am not nervous one bit, just anxious and ready to go!

I thought of all this stuff I was gonna bring, pj's, robe etc. When I had my pre op class, they said not to. They have it all there and to just bring myself. I did get toiletries cuz I will use that at home too. I think it is more important to focus on having stuff at home ready to go, so I spent my money there!

Just got home! Had my surgery on April 3 (wed)...not too bad at all! I was a little sore and didn't find the need much for the pain pump. It was very stuffy in the hospital but i'm clearing up now that i'm home. I'm working on drinking my first Isopure for the first 40 grams of protein! I feel so much better here at home! Hope everyone else is doing well!

So glad for you jeannette! Seems like our group is doing well so far. Sounds like the pain is manageable for everyone so far. Glad you are at home where you can be comfortable! Good luck on the Protein and please keep us posted.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
