So good to hear from you Nella! I think if you're having trouble breathing from soreness, you probably need to ask for more pain meds. I hope you feel better soon!

Mine is gas. I guess they put air in you or something, but I wasn't passing any of it and it was making it hard to breath and making me sore as all get out. I'm still sore, but I think that's to be expected. I finally started passing the gas and noticed how much better I can cough also

Gas never occurred to me! Duh!! I'm glad your feeling better. ;)

From what I see posted, the gas is really the most uncomfrotable part at first. Glad you are getting some relief. Hang in there.

They pump you full of air to be able to get to things easier. My mom said that was the worst for her. And she is someone who will just deal with the pain. The doctor came in and saw her doubled over in pain and got her some gas ex to help. It is the wonder gas drug. She immediately felt relief.

So frustrated....as ive posted in the past few days ive been having problems aince u had my egd last week ...

So this am i get a call with results from my CT scan yesterday and she tells me i have a hernia and the dr wants to see me tomorrow to talk about it then says ok now dont freak out but you have a nodule on your lungs and need to see a pulmonologist and get a CT of my lungs so first i freaked out then called to see pulmonologist and went and saw him today and he scheduled me for CT and PFT next Wednesday and said the risk that my nodule is cancer is a low risk but i will have to be checked for at least 2 yrs but then he said i might have to postpone surgery if my nightcough doesn't go away!

You just don't get a break! The hernia can be fixed during surgery, I have one and my surgeon says that they usually go away when they tug on the stomach during surgery. The module on the lung sounds scary, but the low risk of cancer is good news. Hope the tests go good on wed and that your surgery will be on time. Sucks to have the thought of a delay, but hang in there and be tough! Thinking of you! Keep s posted!

I had my pft while sick with a horrendous cold. If your still coughing tell them your getting over a cold they should help you to get a clearer reading. It mite be a pain cuz you have to repeat parts of the test but its worth not having to go back.

I just got my pulmonary clearance last week. I was glad for the chest X-ray and pft. They finally figured out why the common cold kicks me on my bumm!

How long have you been waiting? Have you called insurance to see what the hold up is?

Jessica' date=' SD 4-11-13 follow me on Twitter: and Instagram: @skinnyjess2013[/quote']

Honestly, I probably haven't been waiting very long.I started the process in mid January and had first official visit in February to the surgeon. Everything was turned in on the 14th of March, but Dr. office didn't open up a case with the insurance company until the 22nd of March. They have 15 days to deny or approve.

It's like watching a pot boil....it just seems to take so much longer. I am just so ready to get a date on the calendar. I feel like everything else is on hold until I have a date..

I didn't need the PFT for clearance i had to go to the pulm. Because of the nodule on my lung

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
