April Dates

Recommended Posts

Is it too early to start an April thread? I didn't see one yet.

I'm scheduled for April 22. I still have to finish PCP clearance and psych then insurance approval but don't anticipate any problems. Once I started my appointments the excitement and anxiety kicked in. I started 6 month supervised diet in August....this used to seem so far away and like a vague idea but its so real now. My anxiety is double as my husband's date is march 18 and I worry a lot more about him than myself. How are all the other April folks doing?

I will be in April, just don't have a date yet. I will get that on March 27th at my last pre op weight in. I am soooo excited. I have started buying some of the essentials that I have heard people talk about. I also ordered several sample packs of Protein Drinks. bariatric pantry has 10% off sample packs and free shipping over $99, so I got one of each today and saved some money. I won't stock up more due to people saying that taste buds change, but at least I will be able to figure out what I like. Have another follow up on Feb 27th, so I will find out about my pre-op diet and such. I have a list of questions for the Dr. :) My name is Dorian and I am from Beaver Dam WI, having surgery at Columbia St Mary's in Milwaukee with Dr Joseph Regan. I look forward to sharing this wonderful journey with you! Add me to the list please!;)

I feel the same way, My date is Also April 8 and I too had to go through 6 months of Nutrition classes and all kinds of Doctor's apts., etc. I still have one more Nut. Meeting a week from this coming Wednesday and then it's wait again for the Pre-Op apt. on March 27. All the waiting is so frustrating and when I started back in Oct. I thought it would never get here, but here I am so close and now it's all about getting organized and ready for the hospital stay and such, and yet I don't even have insurance approval yet either. I just can't wait for the surgery part to be over so I can get on with my new life.

I am scheduled for April 1st!! So excited but kinda freaking out too. Not only is that April Fools Day but its also my 18th wedding anniversary! LOL what a way to Celebrate. I told my husband he's getting a new and improved wife for his anniversary present.

Has anyone looked into getting their kitchen ready for post op. I ordered some sample supplements but I have no idea what else to get. I meet with the Nutritionist March 5th so I am assuming they will let me know then.

I am so thankful for this forum, its making this whole process easier knowing I'm not walking into this blind! THANKS EVERYBODY AND GOOD LUCK!!!

I have been trying different Protein shakes--my favorite so far is Syntrax Matrix strawberry Cream. I also really like Click vanilla Latte coffee/protein drink for Breakfast. Syntrax nectar is a good non-creamy Protein drink-- I like green apple and cherry.

I'm stocked up on broths-- chicken, veggie, beef, miso. Different creamed soups--cream of mushroom, celery, and chicken are good, but would need to be strained for liquid phase.

sugar free Jello and Popsicles.

I did the same as wendilou. I ordered several sampler packs from Bariatric Advantage. That way, I will have several to try post op. I have also started stocking up on some broths, Soups and other stuff that I have read about and seen on some you tube videos I have watched. I am hoping to find out a surgery date on Wednesday at my weigh in appointment. Then only one more weigh in to go in march! I wish it would hurry up and get here already!! :)

Yea... I'm getting my kitchen ready too. Each trip to the grocery store I pick up a few things so its not so overwhelming. We bought smaller dishes, glasses, big kid sippy cups, and smaller silverware. We've started trying Protein shakes....isopure is good for the hubs but bad for me.

I am sitting in psych's waiting room. My husband is in there now and I'm next. His surgery is 3 weeks from today....my stomach is flip flopping now that we are getting so close. Excited and nervous. How are you all doing with your appointments?

I have everything done except for the two last weigh ins. I wish they could skip those and just submit, but guess ill have to wait. I am going to a mandatory support group tonight with my husband and then weigh in on wed. Hope to get a date then. Good luck at your appointment! Mine was very nice. The guy just talked to me and asked some questions. It was more like friends talking than an eval!

Psych assessment is done! No problem. Less than 45 minutes I answering questions and he is approving me. Hubs as well.

I'm waiting for the scheduler to contact me after she gets approval from insurance. I've already done 3 mos weight maintenance, psych eval, EKG, and chest X-ray. I don't know yet if I have to have an EGD. I hope I know soon-this incessant waiting is making me looney tunes.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
