Recommended Posts

On the last leg of the beginning of my new life! I start my pre-op tomorrow. 2 shakes, 1 snack (high protein), and 1 very small high Protein meal with small serving of cooked vege. I almost want to go liquid all the way to maximize my weightloss. I am so ready!!!

Take from a girl in the middle of all liquid hell, SAVIOR that meal!!!!! I'm ending day 3 pre-op, it's tolerable, and getting better. Horrible headache day 1, really really really tired but I guess on 500 calories you're not gonna have a ton of energy. I've been drinking Water until I about float away. You can do it, but it's not fun!!!!

So you only had a 3 day pre-op? It varies so much from surgeon to surgeon!

I can have coffee. Can you? It's going to be hard to say good bye to such a long time habit post-op. Best of luck on the 11th!

Nope! I usually only drink 2-3 cups a week so wasn't really an issue, except Monday morning when I was at work cold, grumpy, and had a headache. I have 5 Protein shakes a day, SF Jello, SF calorie free Clear liquids with no caffeine or carbonation (Water and crystal light essentially), fat free broth, Decaf tea and decaf coffee (i have to have Creamer so this is out!) and I can have 2 dill pickles a day :D. I'm 3 days in and starting to hate pickles.

What kind of shakes are you using. The only ones I have found that I like are the Premier at costco. I can't stand that chemical taste. I gave up carbonation 2 years ago- I used to drink a 12-pak of Diet Coke per day... I can't ever touch that again!!! Pickles, I love pickles....

I have a variety, hate em all. My doc sells and recommends HMR so I have some of those, I also have a couple different types of EAS and an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury sample pack and the Unjury chicken broth. I've ordered a Syntrax sample pack that one of my friends swears by. The chemical taste kills me too!!! I have discovered I'm good with making sugar free Jello with the unflavored unjury powder. It's my least offensive Protein source so far! I think my doc has realized sometimes we get to craving crunchy or salty and decided giving us a couple pickle is better than cheating with a bag of chips! The week before surgery I have to cut out pickles too :/. Down 7 lbs in 2 days....I know it's mostly Fluid but still, it's 7 lbs!!!

I've heard the Unjury unflavored mixes with flavored water and Soup and is undetectable. I'm thinking I might have to try that. I have heard that the unjury chicken soup is kinda salty.

It's Is kinda salty but after all the sickeningly sweet shakes, sometimes salty is a nice change!!!! You can only heat the unjury to 130 degrees so you can't really get the chicken Soup hot and you can't mix the unflavored with a super hot beverage or soup....I wouldn't say it's undetectable but it's not nearly as after tasty as the shakes.< /p>

I love unjury, just make sure your soup is under 130 degrees or the Protein will actually cook (aka clump) and that's no fun at all!

I am on Slimfast until my surgery--my choice not the surgeons-- and my go-to snack is V-8 fusion light blended with ice and unflavored unjury.

I have a bunch of recommended meals- most of them are liquid- that my program gave me. Feel free to PM me if you would like some :)

I just bought the Unjury sample pack for right after my surgery. I've heard it's pretty palatable. My dr. also allows Atkins shakes afterward but no other pre-made shakes.

My dr requires 3 days pre-op liquid diet. My surgery is 7 weeks from today, seems like forever. I'm SO ready to get a move on!!

I'm 9 weeks and 4 days away from mine... I hear ya! I have some pretty neat Protein shake recipes if you'd like them. PM me your email and I'd be happy to share :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
