Sagging skin? Need advice

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery late February. I am 60 years old 4'10 and weigh 265. I am worried that I'm going to look like a dripping candle! Has anyone had a similar situation? I guess those "youngsters" probably have more elastic skin.

Same here. I'm already sagging and only down 50. But I'm in some size 14s. I'm ok with the sagging. Good luck.

I am sagging all over too. But I am noticing the more time goes on that it doesnt look that bad. No where near as bad as being fat and unhealthy, I mean I wont ever wear a bikini but the clothes I am wearing look damn good. Im giving it another year to see where everything ends up and then I will make the decision on what I want to nip tuck and lift. Im 45.

The sagging skin scares the bejeezus out of me. But I keep trying to concentrate on how much healthier and thinner I'll be, and all the things I'll be able to do that I can't do now. It's worth it.

I'm down 75 pounds and getting saggy skin I'm 27 and have always had problems with my skin not being elastic have the stretch marks to prove it. I figured I would rather have saggy skin then having the fat that filled it. When I'm older and after having all my kids will think about plastic surgery.

Remember to Exercise!! It will help out a lil cuz you r building up the Muscles!! And it won't look as bad!! And if you have Cosmetic Surgery you will have better definition, and your results will be better!! Just a thought!! Also cuz we r losing weight so past we will sag!! :(

this goes hand and hand with this kind Surgery unfortunately!!

You can moisturize, exercise, and hydrate all day long but if your skin has already stretched past its point of no return then it will sag. True you should exercise hydrate and moisturize but they aren't a cure for sagging. It's almost inevitable. I've got sagging in arms belly inner thighs and butt. But being a healthy weight and actually being healthy are very worth it!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
