Question? After you eat does your stomach hurt?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 6 weeks out from gastric bypass and things have been great. But lately every time I eat, I get naushiated. (Sp) so I am barely eating. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yep. I think We all go through this with the healing process. Mine hit weeks three and four. It was awful but I pushed through and it passed. I swear I lived on a Syntrax shake, yogurt, cheese and crackers. Hugs!

Thank you so much for your reply. I was starting to worry something might be wrong. So did you just eat what you could and stop when you felt to sick to eat? I feel like I am barely getting anything down. Did yours last a couple of weeks? How did you make it through?

Yes mine did last about two weeks. I just tried to eat what I could as often as I could. I actually switched from crystal light to plain Water. It was making it worse. It would take me an hour to get in most of Protein Drink.< /p>

Mine hit at about 6 weeks. Call your doctor there are meds he can give you to help you trough this time. You don't want to get dehydrated or sick from lack of nutrition.

Music1618, how long did this last for you? I have been taking zofran. Is that what your doctor gave you? I feel like I am not eating at all because of this and am very discouraged.

Mine lasted about two months. I started on zofran, but it did not work for me and he switched me to phenergan. That worked. I would drink the liquid and eat about 20 min later.

Hmmm I always thought that was dumping so ate a smaller amount as directed by dr how much are you eating at one time and how long does it take you to eat it

I take about 30 minutes to eat. The problem is that by the second or third bite, I get nauseated. I am barely eating. I was great the first four weeks. But now I am constantly feeling sick. I am even taking my zofran before I eat and it doesn't make a difference.

Wow. See that happened to me about 6 months ago and it was an ulcer. Nexium and carafate were prescribed and its better but I can't see you having an ulcer that soon after surgery if they tested you for the precursor to ulcers before surgery

I don't feel pain from eating. Sometimes I will feel pain from drinking though, which sucks.

It's nice to have people who understand what you're going through. I think there should be more resources available for support. Just wondering...do any of you regret having the surgery??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
