I promise, it gets better. The first few weeks are "hell" for some - about my 10th day, I felt great!

All great advise! As for the shoulder pain- massage works wonders! Get someone to do it for you or try it yourself. The nurses showed me what to do and I continued with it for two days. No more pain after that!

Pillows!

liquid tylenol!

Walking!

Marissa - the worst time for me, with any surgery, is the second to third day. Rest and wait a few days - you should feel a lot better. And, no, I couldn't really sleep comfortably on my side the first week - didn't try again until the 3d week. I think I missed it more the first few days than any other time. As for the heating pad - it helped me sleep a few of the nights.

Hang in there

I didn't sleep more than 3 hours at a time until about day 6. I'm 10 days out and still have incision pain but I had my stamples removed today and now I feel pretty good. I agree with you, the pain was more than expected. I think it's a combination of pain, gas in the chest and tummy, being hungry and weak and not tolerating pain meds well due to empty stomach. I finally feel normal now that the stamples are out and I'm on mushy foods. I am however still hungry but it;s mind over matter. Just think, in 6 or so months we'll look great, feel great and never feel ashamed or embarrased of our bodies again! Stick it out, it's normal to be in pain and be morning the loss of food which many of us used to comfort ourselves.

i am 2 days out - i cant sleep - i cant cant get comfortable and i cant get this damn bubble out of my chest (feels like a burp) and my shoulder hurts! does anyone know if they could sleep onthier side right after surgery? the pain is ridiculous! ouch! ok ok maybe i am exaggerating but i never had surgery before and i did not knwo what to expect! i am only 21 and i weigh 265 and i wasnt sure if i needed to do this or not but i guess i am glad i did so far! I believe that my expectations were unrealistic because this is surgery but the experience is different for everyone and i wasnt even in pain from the "band" its was the gas, the incisions and that stuff... I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
