First 2 weeks post op diet help

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, I'm looking for meal ideas for the first 2 weeks post op. I'm supposed to be on a all liquid optisource diet, but it was disgusting! I couldn't get any down. I have the Unjury sample pack do I can add Protein to anything. What did you eat those first 2 weeks?

Nicole, you were the 19th right? All of that sounds delicious. I've been liquids for 3 weeks now (2 weeks pre & 1 post) and man I am ready for some food!

Okay, I cheated... I had a 1/2 of a soft scrambled egg this morning. Oh my... After not eating food for 3 plus weeks, it was delicious! I used an organic cooking spray so no fat added, little salt & pepper. Yum!

Thank you guys that was helpful. I'm so sick of Protein shakes and Water only. I just want a different flavor in my mouth. I still have 8 days to go:(

I only did the shakes for the first 9 days post op. then I started to shift to the soft Proteins. I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow. So far I have had Greek yogurt, all natural applesauce, hummus, sugar free pudding, Beans, eggs, mozzarella, homemade chicken stock with herbs...I try a few small bites and wait to see how my stomach feels. So far so good. I literally got to the point where I would get nausea just thinking about the shakes. I add Protein powder to everything and have been starting the morning with a Protein Peanut Butter shake. Crazy tiny portions, but I am satisfied and full. Good Luck.

I'm 5 days post op & I'm so sick of shakes. I couldn't even get them down yesterday. I did have a couple of bites of cheese yesterday & that went well. Try a little at a time I guess :)

I am five days post op and doing better each day....it for sure helps to have a amazing support system. I start this coming Monday on puréed foods and don't know where not start. Must is the different between puréed and soft foods?

pureed foods went down well for me but it was harder for me than liquids.I just wanted to chew. I pureed egg and chicken salad...that was good.hummus was a life saver. I skipped the whole baby food thing...tried it found it unbearable. I also pureed salsa into a lot of Beans. But I've also tolerated spicy food exceptionally well. Some can't do it. Try ricotta cheese with sugar free spaghetti sauce...bake. pretty good pureed lasagne.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
